Attended a celebration last night for a just-engaged young couple. I was at his parents’ engagement party 24 years ago. His grandparents have been dear friends of mine for 47 years. Two takeaways: • God is faithful to His servants and to their children and their children’s children. • “God sets the lonely in families” (Ps 68:6). For decades, when I was single, He intertwined my life with this and other families. They welcomed me and I sought to bless them. Now, as a widow, three generations of these precious friends are wrapping their lives and hearts around mine and pouring His love into me in countless practical and meaningful ways. Yesterday, as I wept during a Good Friday service, a 14-YO granddaughter in this family quietly put her arm around my shoulder. Such grace. Is this a lonely season for you? Let Him put you in families. Are you in a family? How can you be the heart and hands of Jesus to those who are alone? Together, may we reflect our Father’s sacrificial love to our world. 💞

@NancyDeMoss Continuing to pray for you. 💕 I’ve loved the prayers sprinkled amongst the pages. I’m immensely enjoying reading and journaling through the Word in this Bible.

In my regular reading in the CSB Notetaking Bible, Revive Our Hearts Edition, this week, I came to this prayer, which I wrote over a year ago. Such a timely Providence and a needed reminder for my heart. The Lord has helped me. He is helping me. He will help me. Ebenezer.

A kind friend sent me this quote from my book Incomparable: 50 Days with Jesus: “When you wonder if you can keep pressing into the pain, remember what you’ve seen here. Go to Gethsemane. Ponder the crushing He endured for your sins and mine. And press on.” Day 22, “Hard-Pressed: The Soul-Anguish of Christ”

“Worship the LORD with all your heart. Don’t turn away to follow worthless things that can’t profit or rescue you; they are worthless.” (1 Samuel 12:20–21) To exalt, follow, and serve anything other than Him is futile and foolish. He alone is worthy of our whole-hearted worship.

If we could see and know what they see and know on the Other Side, our sadness would be overshadowed by joy and we would live on the edge of our seat in eager anticipation of joining them there. In the meantime, we wait, walk, and work—sometimes weeping, always worshiping.

Angel to Gideon: The Lord is with you. Gideon: If the Lord is with us, why has all this happened? Where are all His wonders? People are saying He has abandoned us. God: Go deliver Israel. I am sending you. Gideon: How can I deliver Israel? My family is weak… I am young … God: I will be with you. (Judges 6) God with us. All we need. Nothing more. Nothing less.
