Wes Streeting clarifies what Steve Reed was referring to in this interview with Lewis Goodall, where he suggested the phone was stolen "maybe even over a year" before this Cops say it was stolen and reported in October 2025 Streeting: "What Steve Reed was referring to was the fact that parliament had asked for the release of all messages... Morgan McSweeny's phone was stolen well ahead of that. At the time when it was stolen, given the degree of cyniscm about this, Morgan McSweeney could not have known or foreseen that parliament would ask for the release of these messages in a rather unprecedented way. It was reported to police at the time. I understand it's not a good look... the point he was making was, at the time, it was reported and he could not have known parliament was asked for messages... there will be a very large number of messages that will be released anyway."

Steve Reed on Morgan McSweeney's stolen phone suggests it was before Mandelson's appointment: "As I understand it, that was a theft that was reported months before the whole Mandelson situation even began.  I don't know what he does or doesn't have... but his phone was stolen and he reported it at the time, and it was well in advance of anything happening....Morgan reported the theft of his phone months. I think it was maybe even over a year before the whole situation arose. So there's no comparison."

Steve Reed on @lewis_goodall again insists UK won't get dragged into the war, no plans for petrol rationing 'as it stands', Iranian missiles did not hit Diego, Israel 'speculating' about ability for missiles to hit London - Says Iranian missile did not 'hit Diego Garcia' - UK assessment is that Iran targeted it with two missiles. "One failed, the other was intercepted. So we have perfectly adequate resources to keep the United Kingdom safe. And everybody should feel reassured, reassured about this. The UK isn't going to get dragged into this war." - Israelis 'appear to be speculating' over saying the attempted strike on Diego Garcia shows that Iran can hit London and other European countries. "I don't know why the Israelis may have said the things that they've said. We are perfectly capable of keeping this country safe in the region."  - Won't comment on whether Trump's threats to 'obliterate' power stations is a war crime  - but says sometimes Trump says things to 'engineer an outcome'  and 'this isn't de-escalation' - Rules out petrol rationing 'as things stand'  - but admits "I don't know from day to day what's happening in this war any more than any more than you do.... There is no question, as things stand, of rationing of any kind." - UK's energy strategy is 'the right one' and the 'whole situation in the Middle East' proves this

Alarmingly, the Business Secretary just told @NickFerrariLBC on @LBC that there is: "No Gov't intervention that is going to enable your business to thrive." That's nonsense. Reducing VAT for the Hospitality sector would save business and jobs.

Business Secretary Peter Kyle with a slight slap down to Sir Sadiq Khan about re-joining the EU, tells @NickFerrariLBC "we don't need a long debate about rejoining" "We're looking at areas we can align with (the EU) on regulations. The more we can align with the biggest market on our doorstep (is better). We don't need to plunge ourselves into a long protracted debate about rejoining -but looking at deals around the world. We are rebuilding the relationship (with the EU)" @LBC

NEW: Bank of England governor, Andrew Bailey suggests to @AndrewMarr9: - Rate cuts are less likely thanks to Iran conflict - Longer war goes on, worse it will be on economy - Food prices may go up "I thought that over the course of the next few meetings we would probably be able to cut. So the message has changed there... I'm not going to go beyond that because the situation is so uncertain and so prone to change. I think the appropriate thing today is to hold & watch very carefully. But I'm not making any predictions about what happens beyond that." @LBC

Sources close to Sadiq Khan hit back at the Tory leader: 'Kemi’s comments are straight out lies. There were as many women at the event than men. It was a completely open event. In fact it’s called an ‘open iftar’. People of all faiths and backgrounds were invited to attend, and did attend. It was as open as all our other brilliant events in the square, from Easter, to Vaisakhi, to Chanukah.' @LBC
