Wilmington had never had a N.C. High School Athletic Association boys cross country individual champion until Saturday. Hoggard's Riley Kiziah became the first, capturing the 8A title at Ivey Redmon Park. The team race was not as close, however, as Broughton had all five runners in the top 14 spots to win. Broughton now has nine boys cross country championships, tying them for second most all-time.
