🙌Today, the @NCHRD_UG conducted a follow-Up Advocacy dialogue meeting at local government level targeting different stakeholders and strengthening of Referral Mechanisms for #HRDs in Karamoja sub-region ahead of the 2026 general elections. This will enable consolidate commitments, strengthen regional protection networks, refine available referral pathways and align state actors to safeguard the freedoms of assembly, association and expression during the pre-election, election and post-election periods. #TogetherWeDefend

🙌Our commemoration of #IHRD day today started with a press conference in the morning. This was attended by @NCHRD_UG ED @BRKirenga, @UHRC_UGANDA regional head Hoima, Ms. Betty Enangu, @PoliceUg legal and human rights officer, Albertine region, Ms. Catherine Alupo, and our Land and environmental defenders (Ms. Janepher Baitwamasa and Mr. Bbiira Nasser Kiwanuka). They spoke to the media about the day's commemoration under the theme; celebrating and protecting the work of #HRDs in Uganda. #TogetherWeDefend

UPDATE: @AigpDamulira , the Director of Crime Intelligence @PoliceUg says they are determined to work with Ghetto members and find solutions to their challenges such that they can be like any other Uganda. He says no one should categorize Ghetto Youth as bad people.
