We welcome the latest news from @NICEComms recommending the combined use of two different targeted therapies to treat adults in England living with a particular type of advanced kidney cancer. Kidney cancer is the 11th most common cause of cancer death in the UK; some 28,485 people in England were diagnosed with the condition between 2020 and 2022. Director of policy and public affairs, Alison Railton, said: "𝑇ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑜𝑓𝑓𝑒𝑟𝑠 𝑎𝑛 𝑖𝑚𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑡 𝑡𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑜𝑝𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒 𝑝𝑒𝑜𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝑙𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑎𝑑𝑣𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑑 𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝑐𝑒𝑙𝑙 𝑐𝑎𝑟𝑐𝑖𝑛𝑜𝑚𝑎. “𝐾𝑖𝑑𝑛𝑒𝑦 𝑅𝑒𝑠𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑐ℎ 𝑈𝐾 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑣𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑑 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑠 𝑑𝑢𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑢𝑙𝑡𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑝ℎ𝑎𝑠𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑟𝑎𝑖𝑠𝑎𝑙 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑐𝑒𝑠𝑠. As part of the Kidney Charities Together Group we stand with @kidneycareuk, @KidneyWales, @NKF_UK, @PKDCharity, @UKKidney, and @PophamKidney in welcoming the announcement today that the @WHO has formally adopted a resolution to reduce the burden of kidney disease. This is a milestone for the kidney community, marking international political recognition of the scale and seriousness of chronic kidney disease. It reflects a shared commitment to prioritising kidney disease alongside other major health conditions such as stroke, diabetes and cancer. We’re pleased the UK government supported this resolution and we look forward to working with governments and healthcare systems across the UK to ensure kidney disease is taken seriously and given the profile needed to help improve the lives of people with kidney disease and future generations. You can read more about what that means for people with kidney disease in the UK here: bit.ly/4jkuoAV #KidneyDisease

Many thanks to Wes Streeting for speaking at our reception in @UKParliament today. It was good to hear #KidneyDisease is a priority for the government and the 10 Year Health Plan will lead to improved outcomes for #KidneyPatients. We look forward to working with you to ensure the rhetoric becomes reality. @wesstreeting
