Hideo Kojima describes the camera movement there as "Kowloon's Gate-style". The game uses a very loose swaying camera to give the impression of constantly having to duck and weave around the hanging pipes and cables that ran overhead in the alleys of Kowloon Walled City.

「歯を食いしばる」巨大なコンクリートブロックの間にブロンズで鋳造された人間の「歯」の列がぎっしりと挟み込まれる。何百キロもの物理的な重さに耐えながら、今にも砕け散りそうな細かな歯が構造を支えているという緊迫した構図。
個人の抵抗は小さく脆いが、それが一列に集まることで上からの凄まじい重量を必死に支える。政治的体制や経済的困窮といった「抗えない大きな力」と、それに耐えながら生きる「個々の人間（または集団）」との間で生じる、絶え間ない闘争と抵抗を暗喩している。
