Following a large fire at Dibden Road, nearby residents are asked to keep window/doors closed and avoid handling ash/debris. The site involved in the fire contained asbestos. While it is possible that asbestos-containing materials were released in the smoke and deposited as ash or debris in the surrounding area, the risk to health remains low. Asbestos fibres are generally trapped within the material they were originally part of and are not easily released into the air. If you urgently need to use your vehicle and you notice ash on it, dampen the debris and wear protective gloves to remove it. We are arranging for tests to be done and will provide more guidance later today.

We carried out a training exercise at @Nrw_Cathedral last night to test fire fighting and salvage procedures at the historic site. It's really important that we hold training like this with partners to test plans and make sure we are skilled and prepared.
