Detective Jonathan Diller was a devoted father, a loving husband, and one of New York’s Finest. Just two years ago, at only 31 years old, he was murdered in the line of duty in Queens — a hero who gave everything to protect this city. The Detectives’ Endowment Association will #NeverForget Jonathan and will always stand with his family.

DEA Board Officers were honored to stand with loved ones and fellow Finest at the 116 Precinct to reaffirm our solemn vow to #NeverForget Detective Jonathan Diller. Two years after his murder in the line of duty, the loss of our brother is still felt deeply across this union, the department, and throughout our city. His courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the Job will live on through generations of detectives.

DEA Board Officers joined family and friends to render a final salute to retired Detective Matthew Santoro. Matthew was 84 years old and spent 40 years serving in the NYPD — decades proudly wearing the Gold Shield. We are grateful for his service. May he Rest In Peace.

On March 11, 1987, Detective Louis Miller was shot and killed during a robbery call he was investigating. A 34-year veteran and training officer responsible for teaching hundreds of cops, his work made a difference. The DEA will #NeverForget Louis and his loved ones left behind.

Detective Luis Lopez was just 35 years old — and a father of two — when he was murdered by violent drug dealers during an undercover buy-and-bust operation 33 years ago. His courage and dedication in the fight against crime made a lasting impact on our city. The Detectives’ Endowment Association will #NeverForget our fallen hero — and forever stand with his loved ones.

Twenty-three years ago today, New York City lost two heroes — Detectives Rodney Andrews and James Nemorin. Both were tragically murdered while working undercover during an illegal gun trafficking investigation on Staten Island. The Detectives’ Endowment Association will #NeverForget their sacrifice and will forever stand with their loved ones.

The Detectives’ Endowment Association mourns the loss of NYPD Police Officer Sorffly Davius, who passed away following a medical episode while deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Epic Fury. Officer Davius served his country with distinction as a Major in the U.S. Army National Guard’s 42nd Infantry Division, and his city as a member of the 79 Precinct. His commitment to service — both in uniform overseas and on the streets of New York — reflects the very best of what it means to serve. We extend our deepest condolences to his loved ones and fellow Finest. Together we will #NeverForget.

As the DEA recognizes #WomensHistoryMonth, we are proud to highlight Bronx Welfare Officer Cristina Reyes. In 2024, Cristina made history as the first woman ever elected to the DEA Board of Officers since the union’s founding. With years of experience and a deep commitment to the membership, she plays an important role in ensuring Detectives and their families receive the support they deserve.
