New sources of bitcoin demand are emerging. MSTR’s STRC variable rate preferred equity has been a primary driver of bitcoin demand lately, with the company’s preferred equity liabilities now greater than its convertible debt. These instruments are not traditional credit, however. They are actively managed, BTC-supported liabilities where capital markets access, not cash flow, is the key factor. A powerful flywheel is at play, but the dynamic can halt if market confidence waivers. Read the NYDIG analysis: nydig.com/research/strc-…

Compared with the 2021 – 2022 downturn, the early stages of the current drawdown look very similar. However, this time, despite the sharp price decline, there has been little evidence of systemic breakage. If additional stress fails to materialize, the current drawdown could ultimately prove less severe. Read the NYDIG analysis: nydig.com/research/histo…

Bitcoin rallied sharply last week alongside U.S. software equities (IGV), prompting claims bitcoin has effectively become an IGV proxy. On a 90-day rolling basis, bitcoin’s correlation with IGV has increased since its early October cycle high, but so too has its correlation with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100. This suggests it bitcoin is keying off broad growth-beta and liquidity conditions rather than on sector-specific fundamentals. Read the NYDIG analysis: nydig.com/research/bitco…
