Research led by Department of Radiology along with Gynaecological Oncology MDT of CMC Vellore published at @TheLancet Regional Health - South East Asia showed that structured CT PAUSE reporting improved surgical triage in advanced ovarian cancer, achieving 89.3% complete cytoreduction. A simplified nomogram showed strong performance and higher consistency, offering a practical tool for busy clinical settings. Autism awareness programme hosted recently on occasion of #WorldAutismAwarenessMonth: Developmental Paediatrics team demo activities for children with #autism; educational puppet show, posters exhibited, & brochures distributed. Empowering First Responders A Trauma First Responder Programme (TFRP), designed to equip staff with essential first response skills, a clear understanding of emergency do's & don'ts & confidence to act swiftly in critical situations, was conducted last month. Hosted by Department of Trauma Surgery under the aegis of the Indian Society for Trauma and Acute Care @traumadocsINDIA, in collaboration with Department of Hospital Management Studies and Staff Training & Development. The programme, blending expert lectures & hands-on training, emphasised the life-saving significance of the #GoldenHour - the 60-minute period immediately following a severe injury - when prompt and appropriate action can make a critical difference. #WorldHealthDay 2026 From preventing childhood infections to shaping national #policies, #research at CMC Vellore continues to strengthen #immunisation efforts and protect communities: • Hib (Haemophilus influenzae type b): Hib probe study helped realise the disease burden, supporting the introduction of the Hib vaccine in India. • Pneumococcal disease: Long-term research helped identify common strains, laying the groundwork for the pneumococcal vaccine rollout. • Rotavirus (ROTAVAC®): As one of three key trial sites, research at CMC Vellore helped demonstrate the vaccine’s effectiveness in preventing severe diarrhoea in children. • COVID-19: Heterologous (‘mix and match’) vaccine booster studies (effectiveness of taking different vaccines). • Polio & enteric viruses: Studies demonstrated enhanced mucosal immunity with Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV, given as injection), following Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV), which supported the introduction of IPV as part of polio endgame. • Typhoid: Research on disease burden and antibiotic resistance helped guide national vaccine recommendations. • Maternal & child immunisation: Work focused on improving vaccine access and uptake in resource-limited settings.
