Ending violence against women, children, and gender-diverse people is inseparable from the work of the labour movement. Today, the OFL and affiliates joined the #MooseHideCampaignDay signature ceremony in Toronto, and hundreds of thousands joined via livestream and in-person Indigenous-led ceremony, learning, and actions in communities across the country. #NoMoreStolenSisters #EndViolence

Today president Laura Spencer Walton joined Labour for Palestine to make history together. These can be difficult and uncomfortable conversations that we must have because growth does not come from a place of comfort. Sisters, brothers, comrades, friends – we will be judged on the hard decisions we make, not on easy ones. As I tell my children every day, we can do hard things. Today the CLC delegation voted that the workers of Canada stand with the workers of Palestine… now, 2 and a half year into this genocide the Canadian Labour movement can join our voices as one.

As we commemorate nursing week and honour the significant contributions that nurses make to countless individuals, it is imperative to also recognize that the Ontario Nurses and Health-Care Workers (ONA) have initiated a landmark constitutional challenge aimed at abolishing a longstanding law that strips them of vital rights to effective collective bargaining and diminishes their negotiating strength. The Hospital Labour Disputes Arbitration Act (HLDAA), a law enacted in 1965, is acknowledged as one of the most rigorous labor relations frameworks in the world. Established before the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms came into effect, it enforces a total ban on any form of job action for all nurses and health-care professionals working in hospitals and long-term care facilities.

Grocery prices have risen by 30% over the past five years. And now, some companies are using your data and Al-driven algorithms to increase prices even more - and not just on groceries. Send a message to your Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) and ask them to support a ban on surveillance pricing. Visit ufcw175.com/predatory-pric… facebook.com/share/v/1Hc2S1…

Over 60% of Indigenous women experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. This violence is systemic and preventable. We need an Indigenous‑led Red Dress Alert now. #RedDressDay #MMIWG2S #NoMoreStolenSisters

Indigenous women and girls make up less than 5% of the population, yet nearly 25% of women killed in Canada. This is why we need an Indigenous‑led Red Dress Alert. Lives depend on it. #RedDressDay #MMIWG2S #NoMoreStolenSisters

The Ontario Federation of Labour officers, staff and executive board expresses its unwavering support for education workers as they unite in solidarity. This marks the beginning of a significant movement that will resonate throughout communities and for families, workers, and students alike. This government continues to erode the foundation of our publicly funded and publicly delivered system and workers, students and communities deserve better and properly funded schools.

An overwhelming thank you to Mayor Olivia Chow for advancing a motion that calls for mandatory police training around the Westray Law. We are now one step closer to its enforcement – just weeks before the anniversary of the Westray Mine Disaster. This is a great example of when workers come together with progressive politicians, real change happens. Many thanks to Toronto Civic Employees Union Local 416, USW District 6 and the OFL Westray Committee for helping make this happen.

Yesterday labour, community, provincial representatives and allies joined together at the Equal Pay Day Rally in front of the Pillars of Justice in Toronto, calling on the government to fully fund the care economy, close the gender pay gap and give women and gender-diverse people the economic justice they deserve. Care counts. Wages matter. #ShowUsTheMoney ! ctvnews.ca/video/2026/04/…

We are pleased to see the government recognize three items on the OFL’s Injured Worker Bill of Rights, as well as increasing Loss of Earnings from 85 to 90%. But our collective work is not over until all workers are recognized as worthy of coverage, without shortcuts or shortcomings. We must go back to the roots of the system, and treat injured workers as worthy of full and fair compensation. How the government approaches workers injured or made ill on the job says a lot about how they treat workers. ofl.ca/we-are-pleased… #WorkersCompIsARight #covermewsib
