The PRs came fast and furious last night in Leavenworth for the #DoaneTF middle-distance and distance group! What a great way to start our outdoor campaign!

See, the 4x400 relay at the national meet is a two-section final, since there aren't enough lanes on that track to get all eight final teams in one race. #DoaneTF was in the first section, and away from the teams that were thought to have the best chance to win after time comparison. So when the Tigers won that first section in 3:42.32, taking almost three seconds off their time from the semifinal two days earlier (which was also a school record), seeing that time gave @kileyhejtmanek1 (pictured at left in the left photo) a bit of a shock. And a few minutes later, when none of the favored teams in the second section were able to beat Doane's time, the realization of becoming a national champion began to sink in. But don't worry…Kiley's okay. Along with her teammates, she smiled all the way from Florida to home on the plane today. 😉

So, you know @Danie_Parriott and @katv157 and @kileyhejtmanek1 and @Jaydenmeyer2006 and @TaniaGleason2, the newly-minted #DoaneTF national champions in the 4x400 relay. You may not know The Lady in Black standing with them after Saturday's awards presentation. That's Doane sprint coach @AnnikaPingel, the Tigers' Architect of Speed. She's the one who writes and supervises the workouts — motivates, cajoles and counsels — and makes it possible for it to all come out like it did yesterday. Nice going, Annika. I'd say, "Enjoy Spring Break," but I rather imagine she'll be giving considerable thought to outdoor season over the next several days…

There's no question that there exists quite a constellation of stars on the #DoaneTF women's team, and certainly no team can rise to sixth place in the final standings with one person's efforts…but before the vivid memories of this week begin to fade into history, let's appreciate the level of consistency and quality of @katv157's performances last week in Gainesville: Thursday — 4x400 semi, :54.88 split Friday — 400 semifinal, :54.91, then 200 semifinal, :24.71 (PR) Saturday — 400 final, :54.40 (3rd place, new school record), then a :55.00 split on the opening carry of the Tigers' national title 4x400 relay I've been in this business for a while, folks. There's a remarkably talented and dedicated woman.

With all of the excitement in the past 24 hours about the #DoaneTF women's #NAIATrack national title in the 4x400 relay, it should be remembered that @Danie_Parriott was instrumental in the process despite not running in the final. With @Jaydenmeyer2006 occupied in the triple jump during the 4x400 semifinal Thursday, we turned to Danie to run a leg in that round and she delivered, helping to send Doane to the final and contributing to what was then a new school record. And yes, Danie does earn All-America acclaim with her teammates.
