A psychologist in The Times today suggests setting aside designated ‘worry time’ each day, so you set a boundary around the amount of time you fret or dwell on something. In your fixed worry time Dr Deepika Chopra suggests you ask yourself, ‘Can I do anything to change or control this thing I’m worried about?’ If yes, make a plan. If not, try to let it go.

@newstart_2024 No problem admitting men build most physical systems because they are stronger than women. But both men and women are able to succeed in leadership positions where intellect is the primary factor.

A woman just said what a lot of people have been thinking but rarely say out loud. She’s tired of the “boss bitch / bad girl” energy that pretends men and women are exactly the same and can do everything equally. Her point: we’re equal in value, but we’re not the same. Women need more fat, more sleep, and we’re generally less stress-resilient than men. We run on a 28-day cycle while men run on a 24-hour one. The houses we live in, the roads we drive on, the entire infrastructure of society — most of it was built by men. Instead of seeing each other as competition, she says, we should recognise how beautifully we complement one another. And the next time you feel like looking down on men, remember the hard work your father, grandfather, and great-grandfather put in. A bit of respect costs nothing. It’s a refreshingly honest take in a world that loves to pretend biology doesn’t matter. What do you think — are we better off celebrating the differences between men and women, or pretending they don’t exist?

For many people living with arthritis, joint replacement surgery is not a lifestyle choice; it’s the difference between independence and daily pain. Yet across England, access to treatment is unfairly being rationed due to a patient’s BMI...

A new report from @arthritisukorg highlights growing concerns about access to joint replacement surgery in England, with some patients facing delays or being refused treatment based on their weight. buff.ly/Tzaof7q

The special stamp honouring Queen Elizabeth II’s 100th birthday is truly lovely and a wonderful gesture of reconciliation! It would be equally fitting for the United Kingdom to celebrate Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday (8 May 2026) with an official stamp as well. Still with us and having inspired millions through his extraordinary nature documentaries, he richly deserves this recognition for his immense contribution to our understanding and protection of the natural world.

Germany is celebrating the late Queen! A special stamp marks what would have been Queen Elizabeth II’s 100th birthday on 21 April. It honours her legacy and work towards reconciliation between the UK and Germany.

@Oshunsprite Probably, Cat. Neurological hypersensitivity caused by M.E can extend to emotions, I suspect, making minor criticisms in social interactions feel much more intense and overwhelming, especially if feeling insecure.

My well-being, mental health, and goals are profoundly impacted by having Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. It's such a lonely place to be. My middle name is now SETBACK. Does M.E. make us thin skinned too? Stress easily turns to distress which triggers PEM.

@Oshunsprite I totally understand, me too though I think I'm a bit less affected now I'm hitting menopause. It was recommended on a Facebook group for people who've not been able to have children - I can't guarantee how you'll feel, but for me it's good to see the heartbreak on TV
