Houston coach Kelvin Sampson said it “put a smile on my face” when the Cougars were sent to the Oklahoma City sub-regional. It’s about a 30-minute drive from Norman, where Sampson spent 12 seasons as Sooners head coach. “We'll go somewhere and next thing you know from 100 feet away somebody will scream "Boomer" at us,” Sampson said. “There's very few basketball games that I go to, especially in the Big 12, that I don't get a "Boomer." And I always scream "Sooner" back at them.”

Caught up with former #Sooners guard Hollis Price today in OKC as Houston gets ready for yet another #MarchMadness run. Asked him about a potential jersey retirement for him at OU here’s his answer plus former OU Head Coach Kelvin Sampson singing “Boomer Sooner” as he walks by.

Kelvin Sampson is adamant that Hollis Price should have his jersey retired at OU. “There’s no reason why his jersey is not retired at The University of Oklahoma.”

As Houston heads to Oklahoma City for NCAA Tournament, Kelvin Sampson offered this: “Hollis Price’s jersey should be retired” at Oklahoma. “You have to honor your past. It's important to understand and honor your past and then build on it.” Cougars will practice at OU on Tuesday.
