The Forensic Science course isn't just about visiting the scene of the crime. Students also learn how to process evidence. This week, students in Mrs. Popeck's and Mr. McGowan's classes are completing cumulative forensic lab work reviewing all of the different topics and laboratory techniques they have learned about this year. This time, they're solving a kidnapping case and are testing samples of ink, blood, powder, and DNA evidence found at the scene. Good luck to these CSI specialists! #SFLionPride #sfhslions

Candlebrook celebrated National Principal's Day by having Dr. Pammer serve lunch to students throughout the day. He even selected the menu himself—hot dogs! It was a fun and memorable way to recognize his leadership and connect with students.

The STARS club at SHS wants students to be safe drivers. Yesterday as part of Distracted Driving Awareness month students experienced the effects of impaired driving thanks to LVHN’s computerized driving simulators and impaired vision goggles.

Each student illustrated and wrote a short story that was published into a class book. They were entered into the National Book Challenge. The title of the book is If My Teacher Were A... where students turned Mrs. Cerett into an object and wrote how she would act as a teacher.

Ehrman Crest Middle School hosted the first-ever Pennsylvania Music Education Association (PMEA) District 5 Elementary String Fest. This event gave fifth and sixth grade orchestra students from school districts throughout PMEA District 5 the opportunity to come together to make music. Participating students went through an audition process with their respective orchestra teachers. Students who passed the audition process were given music to prepare and spent April 17 working under the direction of Pierce Cook, middle school orchestra director from Mt. Lebanon School District. The day culminated with an evening concert for their families and the community at Ehrman Crest Middle School. Participating school districts included Seneca Valley School District, Blackhawk School District, Butler Area School District, Hermitage School District, Knoch School District and Neshannock School District. Special thanks to Mrs. Amanda Lesney and Mrs. Marlina Hasara for co-hosting this fantastic event. #SVProud #SV2526

That’s why since I took office, we’ve expanded mental health resources in nearly 800 schools, helped hire more than 200 new mental health counselors, and increased access to postpartum depression screenings as part of postpartum care. This Mental Health Awareness, hear me when I say: Your mental health is just as important as your physical health — and here in Pennsylvania, we’re treating it that way.
