To learn more about how restorative justice works in action, you can listen back to this episode of Creative Conversations with CYCJ, where Pamela Morrison sat down with Tim Chapman, renowned expert in restorative justice, and CYCJ Associate. In this episode they discuss the difference between restorative justice and restorative practices, the need for RJ facilitators to examine their own conscious and unconscious biases and the relationship between children’s rights and restorative justice. buff.ly/t0Ljst1 #RJWeek #RJWeek2025

Thank you to everyone who came along to our event yesterday, we greatly appreciate all the time and consideration given to all the group activities and discussions. We rounded up the day with a tactile design session that imagined the future of RJ and remove the barriers. It was great to see the delegates getting creative and generating even more discussion! If you have questions about CYCJ's work on Restorative Justice, please get in touch. #RJWeek2025

Lauren Emmerson has been reflecting this RJ week on how children’s rights, access to justice, and human rights intersect when using restorative practices to heal when harm has been caused by a child or young person. Read the blog here: #RJWeek #RJWeek2025 buff.ly/hsRnWlC

What do children and young people think a Restorative Justice service should look like? Where should it take place? Who should facilitate it? We asked these very questions – and the answers shaped two powerful resources developed by young people themselves. See what they had to say and how their voices are helping shape Restorative Justice in practice. 👇 Know Your Rights – helping children and young people understand and navigate their rights throughout the RJ process. buff.ly/9vxkUXw Key Messages from Children and Young People – sharing what they want practitioners to know when facilitating RJ. buff.ly/nTYWtgu #RJWeek2025

Our afternoon session at today’s event kicked off with speakers Lauren Emmerson and Alex Hilliam who have shared their findings of the RJ Test Case Project. Iain Corbett then gave us an overview of children and young people’s views of RJ - what they think of the process, the qualities of the ideal faciltator. We then moved on to the next round table discussions to examine barriers and opportunities for RJ for children and young people. #RJWeek2025 #RestorativeJustice #RJWeek25

How does the Restorative Justice (RJ) process work? RJ is a carefully guided journey with stages like referral, preparation, supported communication, and aftercare – all delivered by trained specialists. The process only proceeds when it is safe and is voluntary for all involved, offering a powerful option for addressing harm and fostering healing. Even the choice to participate has been found to be empowering. #RJWeek #RJWeek2025
