In Liberia, 90% of businesses are micro. Had a great exchange w/ Governor Saamoi, Minister Ngafuan & business leaders on how SMEs can grow & create jobs at scale. Three priorities stood out: infrastructure, partnerships, & listening to guide reform.

Reliable energy is essential for jobs and growth. Standing in Tema atop Africa’s largest rooftop solar installation shows what strong private sector partnerships can deliver with support from @IFC_org. A great discussion with CEO Kojo Aduhene on the role of the private sector.

Learning leads to higher earnings. Spending time in Accra’s classrooms—meeting curious students & dedicated teachers—brought that home. Seeing the impact of @WorldBank support through the GALOP program is a great reminder that investing in education opens doors & changes lives.

Looking forward to my first visit to Ghana and West Africa, while reading "The Ghana Reader: History, Culture, Politics" as I prepare. This is a remarkable collection tracing 500 years of Ghana’s history, from the Asante Kingdom to modern democracy.

Brazil has 10M family farm workers. This week in Brasília we launched AgriConnect Brazil with partners to reach 1M farms by 2030—expanding insurance, strengthening value chains, and digitalizing services. Brazil is a critical piece of the global #WBGAgriConnect effort.

In my keynote address at the @WorldBankGroup annual conference “Transforming Transportation 2026,” I underlined that conflicts and geopolitical tensions do not only shape diplomacy — they are reshaping global supply chains, energy markets, and transport corridors. The current crisis in the Gulf is a clear reminder that even a single chokepoint can disrupt the global economy. In a world increasingly shaped by strategic competition, climate shocks, and economic fragmentation, the resilience of transport systems is no longer only a technical issue. It is a matter of economic security. In the margins of the conference, I also met with @Paschald, Managing Director of the World Bank. We discussed the role of the European Union, particularly in the transport sector, as a pillar of stability and security. #worldbank #EUTransport #TTDC26
