There is a difference between rushed effort and best effort. They both involve how you manage time and the resources you have.

Sad to hear the passing of a legend in the newsroom. Karam is one of those people you will remember meeting. He always wore the tv3 vest and had a beard. The one thing I've always admired about him was his technical skills. In the newsroom, he was the only reporter who edited his own story. Mind you, in early 2000's this was done on a Sony beta editing deck. This was not an easy technical skill to learn, I literally had reporters under me cry when I asked them to do it. Reporters would just write the script then leave it to the visual editors to put the visuals together. For Karam, he knew his visuals best and insisted on editing it. Seeing him doing it gave me the confidence to do it too. It was passable enough so that the editors let me edit my own stories eventually. I've always loved the production part and editing visuals the old school linear way was hard but rewarding. He would wear wellington boots for protection and comfortable clothes (hence the t-shirt and vest). Sometimes he would come back from assignments and I remember him walking past my place with his boots covered in mud. The TV3 vest back then was actually quite useful in storing all those large beta tapes and my notebook I had to carry around. Over time, the tapes became sd cards and we didn't need it. My one regret was not taking up his offer to go for drinks. Thanks for the lessons Datuk Karam. bharian.com.my/berita/nasiona…

Dear, first business owners... 95% of your problems are old problems wearing new clothes... please understand this framework 👇🏾 That supplier who's ghosting you? Caesar had the same issue with grain merchants 100s of years ago. That investor who keeps moving the goalposts? The Medici banks dealt with that in 1400s Florence. Your co-founder drama? Jobs and Wozniak. Gates and Allen. Every founding story ever... Do not convince yourself your situation is special. Or that your market is different. Or that your generation is unique. Stop trying to solve everything from first principles, you're not the first human to run a business... Someone probably solved the problem that is keeping you up at night in 1987. And 1993. And 2004. And last Tuesday. I've been in business for about 15 years and it's taken me 12 of them to realise that the first question to ask yourself when you're facing a challenge is... "Has anyone solved this before?" When Netflix started streaming - genuinely new. Nobody had done it at scale. When I started hiring people - ancient problem. Millions had done it before. When Uber fought city regulations - uncharted territory. The playbook didn't exist. When I tried to motivate my first team - timeless challenge. Ask any Roman general. In the last couple of years, I became wildly more productive when I started asking one question: "Who's already solved this?" If someone has, I find them. Pay them. Hire them. Ask to meet them. Whatever it takes to not spend three years learning what they can tell me in three minutes. If nobody has - if it's genuinely unprecedented - then I experiment like hell. No advisors. No books. No "best practices". Fail as fast as I can. 👴🏻 OLD PROBLEMS = FIND EXPERTISE 👶🏼 NEW PROBLEMS = FAST EXPERIMENTATION The tragedy I see all the time is founders wasting their prime years solving solved problems... They're brainstorming HR policies that P&G nailed in the 80s. Their revolutionary approach to email marketing? Someone A/B tested that in 2015. That radical pricing strategy? It's chapter 4 in a book from 1992. The smartest founders I know are intellectual thieves - they steal everything that's been solved and pour all their creativity into the 5% that's genuinely unprecedented... For many founders ego makes us think we're too special for other people's solutions. Inexperience convinces them their situation is unique. Insecurity makes them think they look weak for asking for help. So we sit alone, solving solved problems, while our competitors are already three problems ahead. You do not need to reinvent the wheel... you just need to find someone who'll explain how the thing works! 🛞 The most expensive education I've gotten is learning things myself that someone twice my age would have told me for free over coffee... 😅

The worst mistake you can make is arguing with someone who doesn’t actually care about truth, reality, or resolution… just the satisfaction of “winning.” You’ll exhaust yourself trying to break through walls that were never meant to come down. Some people aren’t confused...they’re committed to misunderstanding. You could present facts, receipts, screenshots, timelines, logic… and they’d still twist it because they’re not interested in clarity. Their ego is louder than reason. Their pride is heavier than honesty. Their need to be right outweighs their desire to be accountable. There are people who simply lack the capacity to understand anything outside their own perspective. Not because the truth is complicated, but because accepting it would require humility… reflection… responsibility. And some folks would rather protect their illusions than face their flaws. Arguing with them becomes a cycle of frustration, because you’re trying to connect with someone who’s only trying to conquer. You’re trying to make peace with someone who’s trying to “win.” You’re hoping for growth while they’re focused on control. Save your energy. Stop debating with people who don’t debate in good faith. Walk away from conversations that drain your spirit instead of expanding your understanding. Your peace is worth more than proving a point to someone who will never receive it. Let them keep their illusions… while you keep your sanity.

#Gossip not challenged with the source becomes a fact as time goes by. How do you stand up for yourself? Calling out a person's behaviour is counterproductive. Highlight instead of the inaccuracy. Question that and go with the timeline trail. The truth is in the results.

Turning up to support the local filmmakers at the Filem Festival Malaysia 33 (FFM33). For me, it's also about meeting new faces in the acting community and listening to their aspirations. Supporting them in their career journey in the early stages is important to their motivation

Watching Jaguar commit brand suicide is like watching a slow train derailment. I can’t look away. I do product planning in the automotive industry. It’s my job to know drivers (not “users”) and define product strategies based on their wants and needs. I know for a fact whatever the hell this is, it does not reflect the people who buy Jaguars. How does a company get hijacked by marketers who are so disconnected from their customers? How did an entire company sit back and watch a rogue team of woke agency kids drive their iconic brand off a cliff? Why did no one stop them?

I never felt so much joy in getting my Macs to finally connect to an old Ricoh photocopy printer after months of figuring out why it couldn't print. The answer: someone removed the PostScript SD card from the printer that allows Macs to print.

The Home Ministry has disposed of 27,035 units of sex toys worth RM1.3 million through seizures at several premises in Penang, Selangor and KL throughout this year. “The method of disposal is by destroying silicone, plastic and so on until they don’t look like the original and cannot work anymore," said the ministry's enforcement and control division. 📷: Bernama 🧵1

I was with my gf. I overheard him shouting horrible things to his kids like "fucking cunts". As I thought the situation could potentially escalate to him hitting his kids, I looked at him. When he saw me, he shouted “Do you have a problem with me?", I told him to calm down.

@MegatFirdauz Good on you. You averted his attention and showed that it's not ok for an adult to take it out on their kids with aggressive bullying behaviour. Adults should have emotional maturity when it comes to children. Putting fear in kids with foulness is like slapping them with words.

🚨Violence will not be tolerated🚨 I'm here to talk about what happened two nights ago (19 July) at KL Gateway. A man threatened to beat me up and grabbed my hand because I looked at him when he was cursing at his kids, who looked nothing more than 5-7 years old. Vid in thread.
