The Lifestyle Club website has had a refresh, and it’s now LIVE. Since 2021, more than 1,800 people have joined The Lifestyle Club to take control of type 2 diabetes and prediabetes with TLC Diabetes, or improve their general metabolic health with TLC Wellbeing. Based on the work of Dr David Unwin (@lowcarbGP) , award-winning GP and Chair of PHC's Scientific Advisory Committee, TLC programmes help people understand how food affects blood sugar and how practical lifestyle changes can transform health. Participants have seen: • improved blood sugar control (average HbA1c reduction 8.5 mmol/mol) • increased fat loss leading to weight loss and reduced waist size • reduced need for prescribed medication • improvements in blood pressure, hunger and overall quality of life

This isn’t just another health event. It’s a wake-up call. If you’ve ever felt something isn’t quite right with our healthcare system, you’re not imagining it. Too often, we focus on managing illness instead of preventing it. But it doesn’t have to stay this way. Whether you’re a doctor or someone ready to take ownership of your health, change starts with knowledge. Knowledge that helps you make better decisions. Knowledge that helps us build a system that supports health, not just treats disease.

Our Liberate study is now published 🎉 This research looked at whether an addiction-informed programme for ultra-processed food is practical, acceptable, and helpful for people struggling with loss of control around food. Participants joined an 8-week online programme focused on understanding and changing their relationship with ultra-processed foods. What we found: • The programme was feasible and well-accepted • Most participants completed the course • Food addiction symptoms reduced • Binge eating scores improved • Well-being increased • Participants reported feeling more in control, hopeful, and supported Importantly, this wasn’t a strict diet plan, it's a way of eating for life. The programme provided structured support around: • The science of ultra-processed food and the brain • Cravings and habit loops • Emotional triggers and coping skills • Building a sustainable way of eating • Community and peer support This study adds to growing evidence that for some people, ultra-processed food behaves like an addictive substance and that addiction-informed support may help where traditional advice hasn’t worked. This was a feasibility study, meaning the next step is larger trials, but the early results are encouraging. If you’d like to read the full study: frontiersin.org/journals/psych… Learn about Liberate here: liberatetoday.org
