"Real Talk: What’s the Plan for Hiring People with Felonies Now?" So here we are, America—loud and clear, we’ve sent the message that it’s okay for someone with a felony record to be President of the United States. If that’s the standard we’re setting, then tell me: What are the states going to do to support everyone with a record trying to rebuild their lives? For years, I’ve heard all the reasons why people with felonies “don’t deserve” a second chance, as if they should be defined forever by their past. I’ve faced the ugly comments and backlash for advocating on behalf of those who are doing everything they can to make things right and earn a place back in society. And yet, here we are, showing that if you have enough money and power, those same judgments don’t apply. People with records—real people—are held to a different standard than the rich and powerful. Why the double standard? Why is it that one person’s mistakes can be brushed under the rug, while another’s shuts them out from opportunity for life? It’s time to face this double standard. If we’re saying redemption is possible, then it’s possible for everyone. Real people with real lives deserve the same chance at rebuilding as anyone else. We can’t claim to believe in second chances and equality if we only apply them selectively. #RealTalk

Sad a parent who uses their child as a weapon with no thought whatsoever for the child and the damage they are causing. It’s worse when they are “meant” to be a healthcare professional #dyce #aberdeen #childabuse #nhsgrampian

💥 The Harsh Reality: One Side Wins, The Other is Silenced 💥 In the Florida Department of Corrections, there's a harsh imbalance at play. One side gets exactly what it wants—the power to dictate rules, enforce policies, and control the narrative. Meanwhile, the other side—our incarcerated loved ones—are left voiceless, with no chance to speak up or challenge the injustices they face daily. The system often thrives on silence. When grievances are filed, when rights are violated, or when dignity is stripped away, those behind bars are denied a voice. They can’t complain, they can’t be heard, and they can’t fight back in a way that truly matters. But here's the truth: We won’t stay silent. We are the voices for the voiceless. We are the ones who will fight against this unbalanced system because justice should be for everyone, not just one side. 💥 "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves."
— Proverbs 31:8 We refuse to stand by and watch a system that is built on suppression continue unchecked. Incarcerated individuals are people too, and they deserve to be treated with respect, fairness, and dignity. Their stories, their rights, and their livesmatter just as much as anyone else's. We are the advocates, the families, and the voices that will not be silenced. One side may have the power, but we have the strength and the courage to keep fighting for what’s right. 💥 One side may win battles, but we are in this for the long fight. #UnyieldingVoice #JusticeForAll #WeStandForChange #VoicesForTheVoiceless

The US is facing a mental health crisis – both inside & outside of the carceral system. For those behind bars, all types of mental health conditions are increasingly common. Prisons are traumatic & are not made to–or able to–give the necessary care to address this.

It is sad to see grandparents committing parental alienation. Most times it's done by narcissistic grandmothers.

Parental Alienation

I’ve had a number of experiences of parental alienation, it’s absolutely awful and has a hugely detrimental effect not only at the time but often in the child’s future relationships. It is definitely a form of abuse, which is often very difficult to unpick. #ParentalAlienation

🚨 Critical Reform Needed in the @FL_Corrections The safety and rehabilitation of incarcerated individuals and the security of our correctional officers are at stake. Florida’s correctional facilities are increasingly staffed by young, inexperienced officers. This is not just an issue of employment but a profound concern for justice and safety. Facts You Need to Know: •Inexperience at the Helm: Many officers are young adults, fresh in their careers, lacking the life and professional experience necessary to manage mature, often much older residents. •Training Gaps: Reports indicate a lack of comprehensive training in Chapter 33—the very rules that govern correctional operations, which these officers are supposed to enforce. •High Stakes: These officers have control over critical decisions like writing Disciplinary Reports (DRs) which affect gain time and confinement status, holding the futures of many in their hands. Why This Matters: Inadequately trained officers are a risk—to themselves, the incarcerated individuals they oversee, and the integrity of our justice system. How can we expect to maintain safety and fairness under these conditions? We Call For: •Enhanced Training: Immediate implementation of rigorous training programs focusing on situational awareness, legal statutes, and interpersonal skills. •Mature Recruitment: Strategies to attract more seasoned professionals who can bring depth, empathy, and understanding to these roles. A starting point could be setting a minimum age requirement of 21 for new hires, ensuring a maturity level that matches the responsibilities of the job. •Accountability Measures: Regular audits and checks to ensure all staff fully comprehend and adhere to the laws and guidelines they enforce. Take Action: This is a call to transform our correctional system into one that truly stands for safety and rehabilitation. Share this message, engage with policymakers, and demand reforms that ensure justice and safety for all. #ReformFLDOC #JusticeAndSafetyForAll

Imagine a child suddenly losing contact with one side of their family—parents, grandparents, even close cousins. This happens every day due to trauma, coerced attachment, and alienating behaviours, where the goal is to erase the other side. It’s a form of control that uses the child as a tool for manipulation, leaving deep emotional wounds. @EMMMFoundation #coercivecontrol #trauma #alienatingbehaviours #family #emmmfoundation #emmm2024

People with an incarcerated or formerly incarcerated family member have a 2.6 years shorter life expectancy than those with no incarcerated family members. Mass incarceration has created a public health crisis across the country. prisonpolicy.org/blog/2021/07/1…
