My students got to see their sequencing data today, some students appear to have different mutations than expected, we had some really cool conversations about human diversity ❤️ And one of my wife’s intro evolution students straight up argued for eugenics in class??? Holy shit

@skwinnicki Did they seriously ask about race mixing specifically? I wouldn't have known what to say. Yikes.

The Genetics lecturer I’m teaching with (I’m the lab TA) started the semester with a horror of eugenics lesson, I’ve been able to build on that ever since I can’t imagine trying to keep my cool if a student asked about race mixing and lowering human quality in class, out loud

Okay, we all need to seriously consider leaving this site permanently. They didn't even keep the account suspended. An account that posted an illegal photo of an abused child.

@Kevinmlowery561 I figured he'd eventually get bored and leave and I could pick my account back up, but I'm starting to do the pre-delete soul search.

@arachnonaut @hanel1987 It ended up being 625 per acre by ground and by hand, so 1300 total. This is just to look at differences in recovery via the two methods. @hanel1987 has other data on release efficacy for pest control.

@Phytoseiid @hanel1987 Ahhh so cool! 🤩 Do you have a certain density in mind for these orchards? X earwigs/acre?

I tweaked my knee and couldn't help with this part, but you don't need to be able to walk far to weigh out 20 grams of earwigs multiple times.

@arachnonaut @hanel1987 Here's what it looks like to weigh out the earwigs the day before. 500 earwigs is 20 grams!

@BugladySuzanne Omg and he told me he had them when we started grabbing our food at lunch and then we all started talking about predatory hemipterans and completely forgot about them. CAN YOU BLAME US
