After making long birdie putts on Nos. 4 and 9, his signature moment came at 16, a bunker hole-out that brought the patrons to life. His playing partner Tom Watson called it, “the best round I’ve seen played here by an amateur.”

Did You Know – Massachusetts Golf Hall of Famer, Paul Harney, is a 2-time champion of this week’s @PGATOUR event. Formerly the L.A. Open, Harney squeezed in his two wins (‘64, ‘65) between Arnold Palmer’s three victories in ’63, ’66, ’67. Harney’s Massachusetts ties ran deep. He was born and raised in Worcester, played his college golf at @GoHolyCross, spent time as the Professional at Pleasant Valley CC, and eventually spent his later years on the Cape. As his competitive playing days were winding down, Harney used his prize money to open his own course in East Falmouth, which he owned until his death. His daughter Erin Harney Abbott is now carrying on the legacy of Paul Harney Golf Club. #MassGolf
