Last week, traffic stats from 12 to 18 April 2026 showed a total of 50 traffic accidents were reported across Malé, the bridge, and the highway. Malé recorded the highest number with 36 cases. The peak day was 14 April, with 12 incidents, and most accidents happened during daytime hours. Motorcycle-related accidents remained the most common, including 19 motorcycle-to-motorcycle collisions and 13 motorcycle-to-car collisions. Out of all cases, 49 resulted in minor injuries, while one involved a serious injury. These numbers are a reminder for all of us. Whether you’re riding, driving, or walking, staying focused and following the rules can make a real difference. Let’s look out for one another and take simple steps to keep our roads safer every day. Stay alert and travel responsibly.
