Why is it that my eyes remain fixed on the empty benches? Where are the MPs we send TO PARLIAMENT?? Don’t we elect them to be present the few times parliament is open? Is it too much to ask? They are given accommodation, salaries, vast funds, plane fare and allowances- so where are they?? Why do most videos show empty benches??

Vishal Khandelwal of @safalniveshak sat down with me this week to talk about how to build that investor mindset in these uncertain times . His new book The Long Game is not just a great read about the stock markets , it has interactions with investing greats and the life lessons we can learn from them. Vishal has spent years educating people about financial literacy through his platform Safal Niveshak. His passion though is understanding and teaching people how to live a meaningful life. The full episode is out now on The Money Mindset. Hope you enjoy watching it 💜

The Husky
The Husky@Mr_Husky1·
British swimmer Rob Howens was in the water with his young daughter off New Zealand's North Island when a pod of dolphins unexpectedly surrounded them. According to witnesses and lifeguards, the dolphins formed a tight circle around them, repeatedly guiding them toward shore. Shortly after, a great white shark, approximately three meters long, was spotted nearby. For about 30 to 40 minutes, the dolphins maintained their formation, using tail slaps and jerky movements to scare the shark away. They only dispersed when the animal swam away, allowing the swimmers to return safely. This encounter is often cited as a powerful example of dolphins' social intelligence and their coordinated protective behavior toward humans.

Hi Everyone, My latest blogpost on @Substack will drop shortly. This time I write on #Census2027 that rolls out later this week (1 April) I argue that what is the world's largest administrative exercise carried out by the @CensusIndia2027 could be the most important Census ever and how it will challenge some long held assumptions and prejudices about the socio-economic reality. Do watch out for it. Sharing a teaser.

Some people ask me when I’ll be chill about energy. The first step is that my (almost always chill, but currently not chill) oil quant has to become chill again. He’s still not chill. He’s the opposite of chill.

"Nothing to hide" is a $300 billion argument. The data broker industry generated roughly $300 billion last year. Over 4,000 companies worldwide collect an average of 1,500 data points per person: location history, purchase behavior, health searches, political leanings, financial records, browsing habits. They trade information on more than 80% of American consumers. Snowden's framing is correct but incomplete. The "nothing to hide" line doesn't persist because people haven't thought it through. It persists because a $300 billion industry needs it to. Every time someone repeats that phrase, a data broker's customer acquisition cost drops to zero. The consumer paid for the phone. The consumer pays the data plan. The consumer generates every click, search, and GPS ping. And a company the consumer has never heard of packages all of it into a behavioral profile and sells it to advertisers, insurers, employers, and law enforcement. The privacy debate keeps getting framed as a philosophical question about civil liberties. The actual structure is an economic question about who profits from your data and whether you ever consented to the transaction. $300 billion a year flows through companies most Americans have never heard of, built entirely on information most Americans gave away for free.
Defiant Ghost@TheDefiantGhost

Edward Snowden said it the best: "When you say 'I don't care about the right to privacy because I have nothing to hide,' that's no different than saying 'I don't care about freedom of speech because I have nothing to say.'" "Simply because you are following the law, doesn't mean that you'll be exempt from governmental interference in your private life."

A tragic incident unfolded on Pune’s busy Fergusson College (FC) Road on Saturday night when a 41-year-old man, identified as Aditya Satpute, attempted to end his life. Devastated by the loss of his job, the Borivali native, who was residing in Pune's Bhosale Nagar, slashed his own neck with a blade in public. Bystanders and police rushed to the scene, and he was immediately shifted to a private hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment. The incident has sparked concerns over the rising mental health crisis linked to job instability. #PuneNews #FCRoad #MentalHealthAwareness #PuneCrime #latestnews

Visualizing the Strait of Hormuz shutdown using AIS tracking data. Wild to see the precipitous drop off in transits from 100's of vessels per day to a handful. The craziest part is zooming in to track a single Indian LPG tanker and watching it intentionally go dark -- turning off its AIS to sneak through the chokepoint, before popping right back on the radar on the other side. OSINT is too much fun. Pulling this together to a bigger 4D god's eye view of the gulf region.

Why does India cut corners and Japan doesn't? The honest answer isn't about culture or character. It's about what happens to a people's relationship with craft when poverty, colonization, and a broken system teach them that the shortcut is always the smarter choice.
