Genuine query that baffles me. Both RVL and RacingNSW, are full throttle promoting and supporting stand alone Saturdays for Cranbourne, Pakenham, Newcastle, Kembla, Scone, Gosford etc, but the same people insist we can’t have the Canterbury Stakes at Canterbury or the Warwick Stakes at Warwick Farm or Sandown Guineas at Sandown, or indeed any Saturday racing at these venues, because of turnover. Surely turnover would be higher at Canterbury on a Saturday than Scone? Or higher at Sandown than Cranbourne?

I obviously wasn't clear enough @aus_turf_club are carrying the burden of subsidising training but barrier trials are crucial for punters and form analysts surely @racing_nsw can help owners to cover the cost

The ATC has confirmed a 2.6 million deficit as it prepares for a critical meeting with Racing NSW next Thursday over the show cause notice that threatens the club’s independence. Revenue hit a record 373.9 million, but rising costs pushed the ATC into the red for the second straight year. Chair Tim Hale says the club remains asset rich and focused on land opportunities around Rosehill and Canterbury as part of its long term planning. Racing NSW maintains the ATC has enough support under the current funding model, while tensions from the Rosehill saga, board changes and governance disputes continue to loom over the process.
