🇺🇸 Purdue Institute for Cancer Research Director Andrew Mesecar joined colleagues from the @IUCancerCenter in Washington, D.C., today for @AACI_Cancer / @AACR Hill Day to advocate for strong, sustained NIH and NCI funding that powers cancer research, including across Indiana’s leading research institutions. That investment drives discoveries from foundational laboratory science to advances that shape the future of cancer care. In FY2025 alone, NIH-funded awards in Indiana generated $1.1 billion in economic activity.

A new multicenter clinical utility study is evaluating how the PanCystPro assay may help guide care decisions for patients with pancreatic cystic lesions, which are known precursors to pancreatic cancer. New research from @PUCancerInst member Xiaoping Bao, published in Nature Biomedical Engineering, shows a way to create “CAR-neutrophils” inside the body to fight aggressive brain tumors like glioma. The work is a promising step toward faster, more accessible immunotherapy.
