@Eanna8723840333 My advice is to not assume on its face that your opponent will ever play perfectly. No one on earth can do that. Hard reads become more of a reliable option for when you have picked up on your opponent in a game 3 scenario. On ladder in bo1 making reads means predicting mistakes.

@QueSemaSema I understand and that’s the main place I feel I need to focus on in my play. I feel like I usually make reads when I’m behind and my opponents just throw the game when I read them to make there safest plays but yes I agree minimising reads is core in becoming a good player

My biggest problem in VGC is i expect my opponents to be better at the game then they are, read them to make a good play, and then they do the dumbest shit in existence and i lose cos of it

We had BigSix for months and now we have Double Primal winning the Grand Champions Festival Encore. I wonder when we will have RayOgre and I wonder who will be our DialgaOgre best soldier at worlds (Only VGC2016 survivors will relate)

I just worry a lot of people don’t really know for sure what way they want to engage with VGC, and just expect it to cater to them instead. And that mentality makes you miss out on the actually fun parts of the game.

I’m not saying to not run mons you like because they aren’t strong. Any way to engage with VGC that brings enjoyment is ok in my books. But this is a competition. People want to win, and the way to express skill in the game isn’t just through the teambuilder.

I think a lot of this is the fallout of the “win with your favorites” philosophy being tested against actual competitive play. There was a big boom of players when champions dropped, who all want to be the one to “break the meta” with their faves.

So I got top 8 at Utrecht regionals! I’m so happy to finally achieve this result in Scarlet and Violet after so much grinding. I had never thought I would be able to get a day 2 in this game that changed my life, and making it all the way to top 8 felt surreal.
