ODM supporting Ruto’s re-election does not mean the party has abandoned its pro-people philosophy. Far from it. It reflects a sober reassessment of Kenya’s political realities and a recognition that the old model of permanent confrontation has not delivered power, or the reforms ODM has fought for. Jaramogi tried confrontational politics; it did not yield national leadership. 
Raila tried it for decades, with unmatched courage and sacrifice; it still did not bring the presidency home. After twenty years, ODM must be honest with itself, confrontation alone has not worked. Aligning with Ruto is not an ideological, it is a strategic & pragmatic recalibration. ODM is not shelving its pro-people agenda. 
We are choosing a different route to advance it one grounded in pragmatism and the understanding that power is ultimately secured through strategy, not struggle for its own sake.
