One bullet hit Amit Maurya near the neck, leaving him critically injured. According to police, the actual target was builder Sandeep Gawas, but he narrowly escaped. Police have arrested Gurfan Khan as the mastermind of the attack. He works in bakery and construction. Gurfan and Sandeep Gawas were business partners in 2016, but their relationship soured after a money dispute. 𝕍𝕀ℝ𝔸ℝ | A habitual offender who escaped from police custody two days ago at the Colaba Sessions Court was arrested today in Virar. The arrest was made possible after his identity was revealed during a minor altercation at a tea stall. The arrested accused has been identified as Harrison Anthony Joseph (47), a resident of the Crawford Market area in Mumbai. Around 20 serious cases are registered against him at the MRA Marg, Colaba, Wadala, Sewri, and L.T. Marg police stations. He had been arrested in a case involving possession of weapons and a deadly assault. While in judicial custody, he was brought from Arthur Road Jail to Colaba Court on April 7. At that time, he fled from police custody within the court premises. Meanwhile, on Thursday morning, he was seen creating a commotion over payment at a tea stall in front of the Municipal Corporation Ward Office in Virar West. Beat Marshal Dinesh Sanap and security guard Akshay Desai grew suspicious and questioned him. As he failed to give satisfactory answers, he was taken to Bolinj Police Station. The accused approached her from behind, kicked her, asked her name, and then committed an obscene act. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered (C.R. No. 293/2026) under Section 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 8 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
