As I am back on the job hunt (and, in the meantime, the freelance work hunt), I'm dropping a thread of some of my proudest work here for consideration. Contact info and journalism portfolio are both linked in my bio. huffpost.com/entry/future-o…

When writer Amil Niazi was struggling to find a job in her early 20s, she truly believed that things would work themselves out. Now, as she scours job listings in her 30s, she writes: “I’m scared for the future in a way I have never really been.” For every complaint Niazi has heard from people in their 30s and 40s across industries and caregiving responsibilities, the resentment is the same: “We aren’t supposed to *still* be struggling, to still be wondering if we’ll have our job tomorrow or if we’ll find a job that pays the bills at all. We aren’t supposed to be begging anyone in charge to tell us the plan for when we’re all allegedly going to be replaced by AI.” Niazi writes about how midlife millennials are still spinning in circles after already having to grapple with the precarity of the early aughts — from 9/11 to the 2008 financial crash — and how they can keep going anyway: nymag.visitlink.me/4jYL8G

I always appreciate Boots Riley's anti-capitalism motif as well as his surrealism, including in I Love Boosters. As with some of his past work, though, it starts to run off the tracks. A fun watch, though. The cast is a riot.

The misguided Saccharine is a far cry from director Natalie Erika James' excellent 2020 horror Relic. A shame.
