H.E. President @edmnangagwa receives the last Zimbabwe Bird (Chapungu) and ancestral human remains that were taken to South Africa as objects of scientific study during the colonial era.
The iconic Zimbabwean Bird was returned from the Iziko South African Museum in Cape Town ahead of our 46th Independence Day celebrations. The return of the bird is momentous and a deliverance of cultural justice as it is a restoration of a key national emblem.
In his address, President Mnangagwa expressed joy as he welcomed home our ancestral heritage just days before our Independence Day celebrations.
The President extended gratitude to President Cyril Ramaphosa for his noble assistance and cooperation in the repatriation, which he said demonstrates the power of Pan-African solidarity.
He urged the nation not to forget the sacred treasures expropriated from us in the colonial era, emphasizing that the development is part of restoring what was missing in our cultural identity. He reiterated that these artefacts are sacred and explained that the bird represents the eagle, which held deep spiritual significance in the Munhumutapa Empire.
In closing, he stressed that having all the artefacts in one place is a political victory because the heritage belongs here adding that the bird will be secured at its original home, the Great Zimbabwe.

H.E. President @edmnangagwa presides over the commissioning of the US $20 million Greenfields Retail Center, a shopping mall located next to the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society (ZAS) Showgrounds, in Harare.
In his address, President Dr E.D. Mnangagwa described the modern shopping centre as a legacy that will usher in a new phase of accelerated growth, enhancing the quality of life for Zimbabweans. He commended ZAS for unlocking the value of their land and applauded the whole-of-government approach that facilitated investment through the Tigere Real Estate Investment Trust.
President Mnangagwa noted that Tigere's success, now listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange as the largest Real Estate Trust, justifies the confidence placed in the company. He praised Tigere's projected growth as a testament to the government's efforts to facilitate people-centred development programs.
He appealed to other investors to contribute to the country's modernisation and urged developers to incorporate climate-smart, resilient, and post-modern architectural designs. The President also highlighted the use of locally sourced materials, supporting the Buy Zimbabwe initiative.
In conclusion, President Mnangagwa hailed the policies of the 2nd Republic for laying the foundation for economic growth and improving livelihoods.
