Back to school means principals juggling AI policy, screen time debates, sinking test scores, and thinner budgets, all before the first bell rings. The job is different. The mission isn't. Support the people supporting kids.

We don't have a teacher shortage. We have an engagement shortage. Pay matters, but it's not the whole fix. Teachers stay where they have a reason to. #K12 #TeacherRetention

We're rebuilding our community this August around one idea: educators steer what gets taught, not vendors. Frameworks, research, and a space that actually listens. More soon.

Rolling back classroom tech is easy to announce. Training teachers to actually teach without the tools they planned around, in three weeks, before the bell rings, is the part nobody's built a plan for yet. #K12 #BackToSchool

New EdWeek data: over half of educators say students spend 3+ hours a day on ed-tech in class. That's the number driving the rollback wave. The real question isn't how much tech. It's whether we ever checked if it worked. #ClassroomTech

Most teacher eval systems keep adding tools: dashboards, scoring apps, walkthrough software. Kim Marshall strips almost all of it out. Short, unannounced visits. A real conversation. No tech needed to build trust between a principal and a teacher. #EdLeadership

Districts are reversing tech policies overnight. Screen limits, paused 1:1 programs, tech bans making headlines. But no one's talking about the training gap this creates for teachers who planned their fall around tools they can no longer use. #K12

This fall we're hosting the Ed-Tech Reckoning: a nationwide panel on tech in schools. Not another AI hype session. A real conversation about what's working and what isn't. DM us to be part of it.

Districts pushed everything online, then never funded the systems it replaced. Now teachers are told to scale back tech with none of the old resources restored. That's not a tech reset. That's an unfunded mandate.

61% of families think schools use too much tech. Teachers are already pulling back: pencils, paper, handwritten essays. The techlash isn't about screens. It's about who gets blamed when a strategy nobody chose stops working.

Anthropic just launched Claude for Teachers. Google, OpenAI, and Khan Academy are already in the room. The real question was never which AI tool wins. It's which one respects what teachers and students actually need.

Teacher evaluation keeps landing near the top of what districts ask us to build for next year. Worth saying plainly: when a great educator is ineffective, look at the system before you look at the person. Most evaluation frameworks do the opposite.

A Republican governor and a Democratic governor shared a stage last week and landed on the same answer for schools: listen to your community first. We built RocketPD on that. The louder our community gets on a topic, the harder we lean in.

We're building a fall panel on AI and screen time in schools, and we want real voices in the room. Teachers. Coaches. Administrators. Policy people. If you have a position on this, DM Corey. We'd like to hear it.

New Johns Hopkins data: only 13% of districts hit hardest by absenteeism are back to pre-pandemic levels. But 1 in 5 small and rural districts made it back. The biggest districts are recovering at less than half that rate. Attendance is a relationship problem.
