오늘 뉴델리에서 인도 외교부 페리아사미 쿠마란 아태차관님과 회담을 갖고 한-인도 '특별 전략적 동반자 관계'의 도약 방안에 대해 심도 있게 논의했습니다. 지난달 서울에서 열린 제6차 한‐인도 외교정책 안보대화 이후 한 달여만에 뉴델리에서 재회한 것으로, 차관님의 따뜻한 환대에 깊이 감사드립니다. 회담 이후에는 수브라마냠 자이샨카르 외교부 장관님을 예방해 오늘 회담의 결과와 향후 계획에 대해 논의했습니다. 양국 정부는 올해 중 고위급 교류를 통해 다양한 분야에서 협력의 잠재력이 만개할 수 있도록 지속 협력해 나갈 예정입니다. Today in New Delhi, I met with Secretary (East) Periasamy Kumaran of India’s Ministry of External Affairs to discuss ways to advance our Special Strategic Partnership. This marks our second meeting in just over a month, following the 6th ROK-India Foreign Policy and Security Dialogue in Seoul. I sincerely appreciate Secretary Kumaran’s warm hospitality. I also had the pleasure of meeting Dr. S. Jaishankar (@DrSJaishankar), India’s Minister of External Affairs. We exchanged views on the outcomes of the earlier meeting with Secretary Kumaran and the path forward. Our governments will continue working closely to unlock the full potential of bilateral cooperation across a wide range of areas, including through high-level exchanges this year.

오늘 오후 수브라마냠 자이샨카르(Subrahmanyam Jaishankar) 인도 외교 장관과 전화통화를 갖고, 양국 관계와 실질 협력 및 현 국제 정세에 대해 논의하였습니다. 저는 지난해 양국 정상 간 두 차례 정상회담 등을 통해 확인된 각별한 유대 관계를 바탕으로 올해 정상급 교류를 통해 양국 관계를 새로운 차원으로 도약시켜 나가자고 하였습니다. 자이샨카르 장관도 이에 동의하며, 높은 잠재력과 상호보완성을 지닌 한-인도 간 전략적 경제협력 확대를 위해 함께 노력하자고 했습니다. 또, 전 세계적으로 안보 경제에 큰 영향을 미치고 있는 중동 상황에 대해 논의하면서, 중동 상황 전개에 따라 양국 국민의 안전 조치를 취하는 데 있어 한-인도 간 긴밀히 소통하기로 했습니다. I had a phone call today with Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar(@DrSJaishankar), India's Minister for External Affairs, to discuss bilateral relations, substantive cooperation and the current international situation. Building on the special bond reaffirmed through the two summit meetings between our leaders last year, I expressed hope that this year's highlevel exchanges would elevate Korea-India relations to a new level. Minister Jaishankar agreed and said we should work together to expand strategic economic cooperation between Korea and India, which has significant potential and strong complementarity. We also discussed the situation in the Middle East, which is having a major impact on global security and the economy, and agreed to maintain close communication on measures to ensure the safety of our nationals as the situation develops.

He also met with Larsen & Toubro, one of India’s leading conglomerates with operations in defence, industrial technology, heavy engineering and power, to discuss ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in the defence sector, including the K9 Vajra program.

Amb. Lee Seong-ho visited Surat and Hazira (Gujarat) from Fe 26 to 27. He attended the inauguration ceremony of the KDT diamond manufacturing facility and congratulated KDT on its journey in fostering manufacturing excellence & serving as a foothold for bilateral collaboration.
