@Rob_Dennis1987 I'm told it's "$368 billion" but what's $68 billion between friends? You assume a "projected life of the subs". One $20 billion submarine can be destroyed by a $20,000 drone - sub project designed pre-drone warfare. Thats if the first sub ever arrives, which I very much doubt.

1/ The term "renewables" is tendentious. A rational mind is attracted to the most natural, lowest risk and cost (in time, cash, land and ecology), of each possible source, to each unique application, whether by muscle, coal, oil, nuclear, solar, battery, hydro, wind or "other".
