What @IuliiaMendel did on Tucker Carlson’s show is not dissent, it is service. Unverified drug rumors, anonymous sources, the word “dictator” delivered on the most pro-Kremlin platform in American media, at the precise moment Russia is negotiating the terms of its impunity. You don’t choose that stage by accident. You choose it because you know exactly what it does and for whom. Mendel spent two years inside Zelensky’s office. Whatever she witnessed there, she chose Tucker Carlson, not a Ukrainian court, not an independent journalist, not a parliamentary commission, to tell the world. That choice is a political act. She’s is from my hometown Kherson. Kherson is still being shelled. Its people are still dying hunted by Russian drones or living under Russian occupation. And a woman who was born there just flew to Washington to hand the aggressor’s apologists their talking points for the week. There is a word for what that is. I’ll let her figure out which one fits.
