If we go to war with the UK in Greenland we should Maduro raid @TomSharpe134, @salisbot & @James_WE_Smith first. They are really good. That said, I think James is moving to FL & the UK doesn’t really listen to their best analysts anyway so nevermind. (Nor does the US navy BTW)

@johnkonrad I appreciate the vote of confidence, John, but I'd point out that I'm both too British and not MAGA enough for this administration. My problems with their decisions are many, and certainly sufficient for me not to get a visa to be able to visit to help out even if I wanted to.

This is the single easiest and most consequential move President Trump can do tomorrow to make the Navy, Coast Guard & US Merchant Marine Great Again… The blowback over the “battleship” this week wasn’t organic. It exploded because almost no one (besides me) was preparing the public for it. So it hit the media like a ton of bricks. Media doesn’t like surprises & experts aren’t willing to act quick without all the facts but the worst talking heads are ready to pounce like jackals and pull the narrative away from fact towards emotion bullshit. Which is exactly what happened after the battleship announcement. Even a close relative was quoting talking points from the horrible @RadioFreeTom to me at Christmas yesterday because Tom is all over the media spewing his garbage takes. Question is who can do this critical job? Who can get ahead of the jackals and provide expert shipbuilding guidance to the media and congress? Well, Brent Sadler is to shipbuilding what Jared Isaacman is to NASA. He was brought in to be a public-facing advocate and educator, then got sniped by the same institutional antibodies that killed Jared’s first appointment. Those forces are gone. Jared is back. Now we need Brent back. Yes, his old slot is filled. Fine. Make him the White House Shipbuilding Czar. I don’t love czars either but we’re out of time and out of clean options. We have excellent people: •@SECNAV — smart, serious, not great with the media •@HungCao_VA — is a media weapon, but apparently the Admirals won’t unleash him •@JerryHendrixII — outstanding strategist, not a public evangelist Others who understand both the commercial and naval sides of the issue and can wrangle the media are indispensable but already committed: @MorganOrtagus committed to Middle East peace , @michaelgwaltz committed to fixing the UN and getting the evil @IMOHQ out of our shipyards, @TomDansCFA securing Arctic gaps Erik Bethel Wall Street @JoshuaSteinman closing cyber haps, @maphumanintent commerce @PalmerLuckey @MavrookasD too busy building @realErikDPrince too many enemies from being based AF That leaves four free agents with deep understanding of BOTH the naval and commercial side of this problem AND real media influence: @mercoglianos @cdrsalamander @TrentTelenko and me. Two of them have never been on TV & the others are Merchant Marine and it’s it is easier for a rich camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a Merchant Mariner to get an appointment in DC because certain old grumpy & powerful admirals hate us. The other superstar communicators who understand this problem are either not MAGA enough (@stavridisj, @SenMarkKelly, @tshugart3) for the administration or too British (Jon Harrison, @TomSharpe134, @James_WE_Smith, @salisbot, @alessionaval). Brent is the only person who ticks every box. That leaves a brutal reality: Very few people understand both naval and commercial shipbuilding and can explain it to podcasters, TV hosts, Congress & voters. Brent Sadler is the ONLY person who checks every box. And he was already appointed to do it but his appointment was killed by the same bad people as Jared’s. Ships aren’t stealth bombers. There’s no skunk works. You can’t hide delays, overruns, or empty yards. This has to be explained, OVER AND OVER clearly, publicly, relentlessly. We need a visible leader who can sell shipyard revival the way Jared sells space. Brent doesn’t have billions to advocate for himself but like @USWPColby, he has the books, the ideas, and the credibility. And he created the working group with me @AdamBaker_10 @Admiral_Foggo @Lazarus_Navy @NextNavy @HunterStires, Will Cahill, Bruce Kimbrell and me that turned directly into the SHIPs Act If this administration is serious about maritime power, sealift & industrial revival: We need Brent Sadler. And if he’s not based enough then give @thomasbsauer the job. We need a 🚢 czar who can explain why we need battleships, cutters and merchants to the 🇺🇸 people.
