People want their tax dollars spent here, locally, and to have faith that our community is being invested in. This administration is doing the opposite. They are using our tax dollars to make a palace, but not affordable housing, to bomb children overseas instead of feeding ours, and to push their own agenda rather than help folks achieve the "American Dream." Our country was built on people organizing and taking action. Getting out the message is just the first step. Now, we have to keep making noise. wsls.com/news/local/202…

Life happens, and nobody should lose their job because of an unexpected emergency. We are making sure employees going through difficult situations have the time they need to handle them without jeopardizing their ability to pay their bills. With Paid Family Leave, workers will be able to take up to 12 weeks off to take care of their loved ones. I hope to see this policy signed soon to protect our hardworking Virginians. wset.com/news/local/vir…

¡La Plaza de Esperanza está abierta! This new bilingual learning playground is a place for our littlest ones to come together and have fun while learning. I hope that our families will take advantage of this plaza located between Breckinridge Middle and the Williamson Rd Library.

As we speak, Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, ethnically cleansing the West Bank, bombing Iran, and invading Lebanon. All with our taxpayer dollars. It's time to rein in this rogue state.
Abby Sewell@sewella

The @AP is now calling Israel’s military actions in southern Lebanon an invasion. Here's why we made that decision: apnews.com/article/iran-l…

Unchecked AI is dangerous. We passed my HB1186 to ensure that our students will be protected from the damage AI can cause to their cognitive development. It's proven that frequent use of AI is proven to harm our children's ability to think critically and cause a decline in mental health. There are two major problems with AI in our schools. (1) Our children are forming unhealthy attachments to AI chatbots. According to Common Sense Media, 3 out of 4 of our kids have used AI for companionship, and 1 out of 4 developed some sort of emotional relationship with an AI Chatbot. Our children are forming unhealthy relationships and dependencies on these chatbots, causing them to fall socially, drastically behind their peers who do not use this form of AI. [commonsensemedia.org/sites/default/…] (2) Until now, it has been taken for granted that the next generation would outperform the previous generation. However, for the first time since we have measured it, the next generation is performing lower on practically all cognitive metrics than the previous generation. As reliance on technology, and AI in particular, has increased, our kids are becoming less able to remember key concepts, pay attention both in and out of class, comprehend what they are reading, and solve math problems. This is undoubtedly a policy failure that will disadvantage an entire generation through no fault of their own, and we must solve it as quickly as possible. “Since we’ve been standardizing and measuring cognitive development, since the late 1800’s, every generation has outperformed their parents… Gen Z is the first generation to underperform us on basically every cognitive measure we have,” Dr. Jared Cooney Horvath. [youtube.com/watch?v=Fd-_VD…] We are already seeing that when students rely too heavily on AI tools to complete assignments, solve problems, or even generate ideas, they do not build essential skills like critical thinking, creativity, and independent reasoning. We must get a handle on AI before it is too late. vpm.org/generalassembl…

With jobs disappearing and inflation hitting record highs, people are being crushed by an economy they can’t afford to survive in. Especially as we are spending $1 billion per day on a war that is just driving up gas prices exponentially. The Trump administration’s policies are hammering young people trying to enter the workforce and abandoning those already pushed out of work by this economic failure. This survey makes it clear: we’re barreling toward another recession. apnews.com/article/jobs-e…

The Israeli government has displaced a total of 6 million people from their homes. (3 million Iran, 2 million Gaza, 1 million Lebanon). 6 million people. The equivalent of the entire population of Maryland displaced from their homes. By one government.

Our society is addicted to screens, and it is having a deeply negative impact on our children. From increased anxiety, depression, and academic struggles, our students are suffering from screen time addictions. It is imperative that we engage with our students about these risks and help them develop healthier habits both in and out of the classroom. I passed HB1486 to require Virginia to teach our students about the dangers of screen time and its addictive nature. With this legislation, our schools will be equipped with a new curriculum, created by the Board of Education, that will teach our children to step away from screens.

There are many false claims in this letter but let me address one specifically: that "Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation."   This is the same false claim that Democrats and some in the liberal media have been repeating over and over.   As President Trump has clearly and explicitly stated, he had strong and compelling evidence that Iran was going to attack the United States first.   This evidence was compiled from many sources and factors. President Trump would never make the decision to deploy military assets against a foreign adversary in a vacuum.   Iran is the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism. The Iranian regime is evil. It proudly killed Americans, waged war against our country, and openly threatened us all the way up to the launch of Operation Epic Fury.   Iran was aggressively expanding their short-range ballistic missiles to combine with their naval assets to give themselves immunity – meaning they would have a degree of a capabilities that would give them immunity to hold us and the rest of the world hostage.   The regime aimed to use those ballistic missiles as a shield to continue achieving their ultimate goal – nuclear weapons.   The President, through his top negotiators, gave the regime every single possible opportunity to abandon this unacceptable course by permanently giving up their nuclear ambitions in exchange for sanctions relief, free nuclear fuel, and potential economic partnerships with our country.   But they would not say yes to peace because obtaining nuclear weapons was their fundamental goal.   President Trump ultimately made the determination that a joint attack with Israel would greatly reduce the risk to American lives that would come from a first strike by the terrorist Iranian regime and address this imminent threat to America’s national security interests.   All of this led to President Trump arriving at the determination that this military operation was necessary for U.S. national security, which is why he launched the massively successful Operation Epic Fury. The Commander-in-Chief determines what does and does not constitute a threat, because he is the one constitutionally empowered to do so - and because the American people went to the ballot box and entrusted him and him alone to make such final judgments. And finally, the absurd allegation that President Trump made this decision based on the influence of others, even foreign countries, is both insulting and laughable. President Trump has been remarkably consistent and has said for DECADES that Iran can NEVER possess a nuclear weapon. As someone who actually witnesses President Trump’s decision-making process on a daily basis, I can attest to the fact that he is always looking to do what’s in the best interest of the United States of America — period. America First.

Donald Trump's own Director of the National Counterterrorism Center resigns and admits: "We started this war due to pressure from Israel and its American lobby." It is time to re-evaluate the US-Israel relationship, end the war with Iran, and stop all weapons sales to the Netanyahu regime.
