Based on our experiences in #Leitrim /around the country @coilltenews Are falling way short on biodiversity. Its not part of their statutiory remit. In direct opposiition/conflict to their sole profit remit. Spending on biodiversity takes from profits ? m.independent.ie/regionals/wick…

We cannot allow foreign investors and private equity to buy up Irish farmland. Fianna Fáil & Fine Gael have opened the door - pricing farmers out of their own market. Every hectare sold to a hedge fund is a hectare not producing food.

What kind of a country have we become when such one sided commercially produced propaganda tripe is being paid for by taxpayers and endorsed by @MHealyRae to indocterinate our children.

Good to hear the Forestry Industry challenged on RTEliveline today. Sending inaccurate information to Primary Schools about Sitka Spruce, is a new low for the Forest Industry. A reminder to all Primary School Teachers today is World Curlew day. Two sides to every story.#Curlew

Certainly but sitka spruce is not the bee all and end of all in terms of forestry and trees. SS🌲 is responsible for a lot of harm. It is like promoting diesel engines only to kids in school as a climate change solution?

@SaveLeitrim @cetherncoille Generally, I think this project is a great initiative. Teaching children about forestry and timber production is such a positive thing, I wish we had a similar project here in England. It’s always about good practice but education about an essential resource is a great move.

Shocking that children will be indoctrinated with such industry produced propaganda without balance paid for by taxpayers through either the Dept of Agriculture or Dept of Education. 🌲SS is a socially culturally, environmentally damaging invasive species agriland.ie/farming-news/b…

Looks like @MHealyRae is protecting his own political skin & voting no confidence in a Government that he is part of so voting no confidence in himself. An offramp also out of the 🌲🌲mess he is not delivering what he had promised in forestry & agriculture. courage leadership?

How does a wealthy investor landlord like @MHealyRae empthaise with young poorer farmer /farm family in #Leitrim trying to buy a bit of land locally to expand and to support his/ her family & community competing with wealthy investors backed by @agriculture_ie grants tax breaks?

This is happening for a long time in #Leitrim and some of those investors are farmers from other places who will not farm the land but plant 🌲 it as investors with loads of grants & tax breaks from Irish taxpayers. #communitiesnotplantations x.com/i/status/20321…

Investor-type, non-farmer buyers scooped up over half of the offers hitting the land market last year in parts, a new report from auctioneers group IPAV said. eu1.hubs.ly/H0sBzqy0

If this damage resulted from farming activity @IFAmedia @farmersjournal the farmer would be prosecuted & would loose payments under breaches of crosscompliance. But this is acceptable to @agriculture_ie forest service @MHealyRae so that profits can be extracted from plantations

By planting 0ne third of all available land in Co #Leitrim mainly with 🌲 & generously funding it with 🇮🇪 taxpayer funds is a state led land clearance which is shutting down our rural areas & destabilising rural population, services & community sustainability. Why? @MHealyRae

& @rayofoghlu this one of the main reasons, 8 years ago, @SaveLeitrim started to resist the wholescale cumulative afforestation of #Leitrim by investors (incl investor farmers) funded by taxpayers pushing local farming families off the land & destabilising our rural communities
