Each day of my presidency is a joy, because I get to work amongst the most dedicated staff who make @stonybrooku the #1 public university in the great state of New York. Our employees are the heart and soul of Stony Brook. Today we celebrate them on Employee Appreciation Day.

At a recent small-group dinner, members of my leadership team and I shared a meal and heard directly from our transfer students about their @stonybrooku experiences. Our students are the heart of our wonderful university and play a critical role in creating our Seawolf culture.

I was honored to participate in @stonybrooku's community Iftar, a shared breaking of the fast during the month of Ramadan. As the evening began with the ritual prayer, I was grateful to join this special cultural and religious event.

During this entire journey there were moments where I felt like a student again. It also evoked tremendous pride to see that Seawolves are extending Stony Brook’s excellence and impact all the way to East Africa.

It was magical to experience Hamlet through the spectacular dance/theater version at Staller last night. House was packed including hundreds of students.
