@AcademicAgent_X @schembrox If I had to pinpoint it, I'd say the rise of EA's boxing titles - Knockout Kings and the Fight Night series. Late 90's-early 2000's sportslop that becomes combined with low-grade hip-hop tie ins like Def Jam's fighting games.

Is this the best video gaming year of all time? It may well be, 1998 is TEEMING with all-timers! We will take a pause after this during which we'll arrange some "Mount Rushmores" of gaming history before the series resumes. Game Of The Year: 1998 youtu.be/apvT5p1yd1c?si…

He knows what he dislikes, but I have the impression he holds no truly firm convictions. He merely contents himself with describing the absurdity of things. The portrait of Bella is cruel, as is that of her husband, who embodies the brute, cruel force of the Victorian man, a force overtaken by the march of the world.

Yoghurt Lanthimos makes pretty films, but they are devoid of meaning. He is merely a libtard who lacks the strength of will to actually believe in libtardism. Vague misanthropic sentiments drawn out over two hours. The gaps in his philosophy stuffed with surrealism.

@pierre2599 @Tom_Rowsell Perhaps he could be saying society infantalises women and only through sexual expression they free themselves -- or some such sh*t. The problem will loose absurdist material and fuzzy interpretation. (Didn't watch. Gave up after Lobster).

If you think about Poor Things, the portrayal it offers of the modern woman through Bella is, in my view, incredibly corrosive for feminists. We are talking about a woman who has the brain of a child, totally driven by her impulses, and who ends up prostituting herself in order to gain her “independence.” The fact that some feminists recognized themselves in this portrait says a lot about their conception of freedom. He is right to despise and mock the men who allow themselves to be dominated by this absurd creation of modernity.

@EWErickson Yes, I'm sure he has some brilliant reason for blackifying Helen of Troy that just eludes us simpletons.

Sorry y'all, but it is Christopher Nolan. I'll go see the Odyssey and probably enjoy it because it is Christopher Nolan, and I'm going to go into this assuming the guy who brought us Interstellar and the Dark Knight knows what he is doing better than Twitter.
