Congratulations to our Pupil of the Week and Character Award winners for their efforts and to the Chestnut team for winning the team point trophy! We hope you all enjoy the half-term break and look forward to seeing you on Monday 1st June.

Our pupils finished the half-term in style today with a colour run, courtesy of our fantastic PTA. A huge thank you for all of your generous donations and to all involved!

Some of our pupils have been very lucky to take part in a trial of an exciting new feature from @gowellwithus – Go Well Trails! The new app uses technology to enhance pupils' map-reading skills, while also supporting many areas of the curriculum.

Today in Computing, Year 2 have been reviewing and rating websites, deciding if they are appropriate for children to use. They really enjoyed exploring these websites and using their knowledge of e-safety! Well done!

The children in Reception had an amazing time during their recent educational visit to the Fire Station. They learnt all about fire safety, the importance of the fire service, and the vital jobs firefighters do in our community.

In Nursery we have started to complete some PE style activities on the field! During these sessions we practiced different ways of moving and changing our body shapes (tall shapes, wide shapes). We are also trying to develop our spatial awareness.

Today, we welcomed our local MP, Alan Strickland, to school. He began with a whole school assembly, sharing his journey as well as how democracy works in our country. Following this, he had a meeting with the school council, sharing some top tips on being in an elected position.

After all their hard work completing SATs, our Year 6 pupils enjoyed a well-deserved celebration this morning where they received their leavers’ hoodies and a tasty pizza lunch, generously provided by our fantastic PTA. We are so proud of them all!

The Elm team enjoyed their team point reward this afternoon with @TAS4L. They participated in a number of teamwork activities, including stretcher racing and den building!

This week, our Year 5 pupils became persuasive writers and creative designers as they planned their own water parks. After writing persuasive texts to attract visitors to their water parks, they turned their ideas into eye‑catching logos, posters, and TV adverts.

Year 4 took part in an orienteering festival on Tuesday and had a great time. They had to guide a blindfolded partner around a roped area, find various clues to crack a code and work as a team to 'cross a swamp' without stepping on the grass.

A brilliant performance from our A Team yesterday, securing a strong 3-1 and 3-0 victory. A huge moment as well for the B Team, who scored their first win of the season. An impressive achievement and demonstration of determination!

The children have had a fantastic couple of weeks in Den Building Club!  This week, they really put their skills to the test by creating a den to protect themselves from some fierce “predators.” It was wonderful to see such great teamwork, creativity, and perseverance in action.

As part of their Learning Enquiry, Year 1 children painted still life images of cacti, building on their prior learning of colour mixing to create secondary colours. They then developed their skills further by adding black and white paint to mix a range of different green shades.

Nursery had a special visit from Sophie our Community Support Officer along with 2 of her colleagues who brought a drone along for us to see. The officers talked about the different roles and how they keep people safe. Thank you again for taking the time to come talk to us!

Year 2 have been practising their athletics skills in PE for the past few weeks. They have been developing their throwing and catching skills, using various techniques to compare the distance of their throws and develop accuracy. Well done, Year 2!

A fantastic week for our A Team, securing two great wins and showing real quality on the pitch. Some tough results for the B Team but plenty of positives to build on. Well played girls!
