My legislation, S9602, just passed the Senate and extends the licensure and registration time period for child care programs from four to six years, reducing administrative burdens and compliance costs to help providers increase access to child care for working families.

My legislation, S1015, has passed the Senate, ensuring that anyone convicted of an offense involving elder abuse is barred from inheriting from the victim’s estate. This measure strengthens protections for older adults and helps safeguard them from abuse, exploitation, & neglect.

My office was proud to join Families Together and sponsor their annual Family Empowerment Day. We must deliver for working families by investing in peer support, mental health services, and a 4% inflationary increase for the human service workforce.

My office was proud to join Climate Solutions Accelerator here in Rochester to support NY's commitment to the climate and protecting future generations. Local activists shared what the climate crisis means to them and how we must remain steadfast in our climate action goals.

This week, our office connected with advocates across maternal health, labor, energy, and civil rights services to hear directly about the needs of our communities. Together, we’re working to build a healthier, more equitable New York.

In NY, the average woman has to work 6 years longer than men in order to close the lifetime wage gap. Compared to white, non-Hispanic men, Black Women would have to work 21 years longer, Native American women 33 years longer, and Latinas 27 years longer in our state. #EqualPayNY

Reckless actions from the Trump administration are making life more expensive. In NY, we can act: cut reliance on costly fossil fuels, create good-paying clean energy jobs, hold utility companies accountable, and strengthen infrastructure to protect families from climate change.

During #WorldDoulaWeek, we recognize the professionals who improve health outcomes, empower parents, & address the maternal health disparities that too many families still face. I’m proud to advocate for legislation that expands access to doula services across NY.
