Keanu Reeves’ dedication to cancer research began after his younger sister, Kim Reeves, was diagnosed with leukemia in 1991. As she battled the disease for nearly a decade, Reeves became her primary caregiver.
“She was always there for me, you know. I will always be here for her,” Reeves said.
Reeves reportedly donated 70% of his earnings from The Matrix to leukemia research and later launched a private foundation supporting cancer research and children’s hospitals — choosing to keep his name off it.
Kim eventually went into remission, and Reeves has continued supporting cancer-related causes ever since.
