@CBB_Central He’s punching the ball to try to get it out of Condons hands. Heat of the moment. It was a very close call IMO. Refs probably got it right but if he wanted to punch Condon he could have done it easily.

@SethDavisHoops what would be the reason to punch the ball? it's not a football game and the play was long since dead. He was very, very fortunate he didn't make enough contact for ejection and the fact that it was whistled as a double technical was wild

My interpretation was that Folgueiras was trying to punch the ball. If he tried to punch Condon he would have connected because he was lying on top of him. It was up to the refs to determine whether he made enough contact with Condon to warrant an ejection, and apparently they did not.

In the postgame presser Florida Coach Todd Golden said the officials told him that Alvaro threw a punch but since it didn’t connect, there wasn’t validation for an ejection. Folgeuiras would go on to hit the game winning shot and be Iowa’s second leading scorer in the game

I think at the last second he thought better of it and swung toward the ball instead of Condo’s face, but at the end of the day he still swung.
This idea (which the announcers wouldn’t let go of) that because he missed hitting Condo flush it’s no big deal is wild to me.

I’m sorry. I’m in the arena. Had a great angle on the whole thing. To suggest this is anything other than a sucker punch is comical. I don’t care that he didn’t land it. That kid is a piece of shit and the reaction was justified.
