🚨 EXC: Antony Higginson has fought a one man war against the NHS establishment to get answers after his wife was given 6 toxic doses of paracetamol. Now the actions of 41 doctors and nurses are being re-examined after a coroner blasted their honesty: thetimes.com/article/dc5e2b…

Our research found that £1.6 billion leaked out of the NHS in the form of profits to private companies with NHS contracts over 2 years. This is enough to pay for 19,428 nurses for two years. To find out how much is leaking out from the NHS in your area 👉nhsprofitmap.org.uk

The government will increase the amount of compensation to victims of the infected blood scandal. As of 7 April, 3,273 people have received an offer and more than £2 billion has been paid out.

The @DHSCgovuk does not centrally record the number of its employees who are on performance management plans. That seems unbelievable.

I hope @Nigel_Farage retracts this false statement. I did not say Mr Tice paid the full amount. I said we don’t know what tax Mr Tice and his offshore trust paid. And the “little bit more” is an invention.

Important from @DanNeidle on the case Tice has dismissed as a “technicality” — but which actually relates to his company breaking the law by failing to pay tax. Remember, as Dan has noted, this all relates to a company which Tice had already structured in a highly irregular way in the circumstances, and which derived substantial tax benefits as a result. He now poses a big question: Did Tice treat payments from his company — which were already not subject to withholding tax as reported — as “dividends” and not “property income distributions”, thereby leaving HMRC out of pocket in his own personal capacity as taxpayer? How did his trust treat its own share of the payments from the company? Tice has claimed HMRC received what it should have whatever the company’s errors - but declined to explain how.
Dan Neidle@DanNeidle

The questions Richard Tice isn't answering about the £120k of tax that wasn't paid by his Quidnet REIT property company: Let's start with a "spot the difference" competition. Here's a dividend announcement from Quidnet. And here's one from another REIT, Glenstone.

Streeting claims BMA are lying when they accuse govt of changing the goalposts as negotiations terms were for a 3 year deal and were accepted. He also warns costs of future strikes could come at expense of any future deal. BMA tell me they never accepted the terms.
Wes Streeting@wesstreeting

As the latest round of unnecessary strikes come to an end, I have written to the BMA Resident Doctors Committee asking to meet the whole committee. It’s time for the BMA to be realistic and reasonable about what the country and the NHS can afford.

Another doctors strike looms next week - I took a look at one of the central issues making doctors angry, thousands can't get training jobs. But with each pay rise they become more expensive for the NHS to train while patients wait for treatment: thetimes.com/uk/healthcare/…

The NHS is using thousands of “locally employed doctors” on short-term contracts to keep services running. In Novintan’s hospital, two thirds of doctors on the rota are in non-training posts. “There’s a real need for all of those jobs,” she said. READ:thetimes.com/article/0a6804…
