So the man being attacked here is actually a South African from Limpopo. His only “crime” was failing to respond in Zulu when he was asked to produce a passport, simply because he was suspected of being a kwerekwere.

The real winners of every election aren’t even the party that wins. It’s politicians as a class. They all eat. You just pick which one gets the bigger plate. Tribal politics will keep working until the people make it expensive. And right now? It’s still the cheapest investment in the game. A politician in today’s clime doesn’t need a plan. He just needs your group to feel threatened by another group. He becomes the symbol of your survival, not a servant of your interests. You vote for him not because he’s good but because the other guy is “them.” It’s so easy for them and you all keep falling every time repeating the cycle.

I find it fascinating that people can understand why the Chinese might actually hate the Japanese due to historical war crimes, but then have a complete brain fart when it comes to understanding why Africans might hate Europeans due to the historical violence dealt against them.

A guy and his wife both came to the UK via the study route in 2023. The wife was the student while he worked. I met him through someone he accommodated and the 3 of us became like friends. His father was the one who funded most of the money they used to secure the admission, CAS, run POF and book their flight, even though it’s a polygamous family. You know how much of a family issue this could be, yeah? The man didn’t care. He was just happy that at least one of his children is about to go to the UK. Anyway, on one of those days while he and I talked at a warehouse I used to work back in ‘23, he said something along the lines that this country (The UK) was just taking our money bla bla bla and that he didn’t even think the Master’s was worth it, hence, he was considering not paying the remaining fees (they had paid half before leaving Nigeria). His grand plan was to start the process of relocating to another country with all the money they make here while postponing the payment of school fees and when the plan eventually succeeds, leave the UK to that country. I strongly advised him against this and the conversation ended there and then! Around January/February ‘24, he told me he was working on opening a travel agency in Nigeria and had spent so much on opening the office and setting up things. I was so happy for him even though he and I had discussed investing in Nigeria in the past to which I had argued against. Anyway, around March/April, he told me he was travelling to Nigeria to go see all he had spent so much on and probably bring his child to the UK. And that was the last time I ever heard from him! Every single message I have dropped him since then has been ignored till date. And I haven’t for once bumped into him on the high street or at Aldi or anywhere else ever since. The wife on the other hand, reached out to me around June/July of the same year for a loan she claimed her husband would refund when he gets back. I couldn’t help then as I was broke. But every single time I bumped into her after that time (and this has been countless) and ask about her husband, she’s always saying “won wa” - he’s fine. Recently, I called our mutual friend and specifically asked about our guy and he told me he couldn’t talk about that where he was then and promised to call back. On Sunday, he called back and omooooooooo

Mikel Obi’s encounter with Abrahimovic when his father was kidnapped is something I find very amusing. It must have gone something like this. Abrahimovic: Your dad has not been released. Should I step in? Mikel: It’s not your problem. This happened in Nigeria. Abrahimovic: I’m aware it happened in Nigeria. I’ll get him out in 24 hours. Mikel: Ahhhhh. What is happening here? I mean Northern Nigeria. It is not somewhere you want to be. Abrahimovic: How you reason me sef? Because I dey here dey watch ball with una, no dey look me like that ooo. Chelsea na Pet project. I do things you can’t comprehend. I’m a Russian Oligarch. Men mount! If I say he will be out on 24 hours, he will be out in 24 hours. Mikel: Who the hell are you?

I actually learnt this thing when I left Nigeria. I honestly can’t count how many people tried to befriend me since then There is this girl I went to secondary school with and few years ago I usually admire her a lot. She always looked like she had it all figured out, the outfits, the pictures, the confidence, a standard instagram hot babe ooo. I won’t lie, I used to envy her a little. I use to like her posts, drop comments, even reached out once to check on her. She saw it and said nothing. Left on read. Life moved on. I don’t really use instagram but the little I did, this girl never liked any of my posts back but from my post showing that I left Nigeria…. I became visible. Now she sees my posts. Now she likes them. Now she messages first. She even talked about reunion, asking me for support when I’m clearly not even going to be there And it made me realise something a lot of people don’t like to admit: The moment you start “looking like you’ve made it,” people remember you. Not because they suddenly discovered your value but because your value became visible to them. Growth will reveal you… but it will also reveal people.

I wrote this painful thread 3 years ago. Today, you all are crying about a racist white man. Bunch of idiots who hate their own skinfolk. You call Europeans racists but the worst they'd do, is stand up from besides you on the train. You idiots kill each other.
👑S.A.L.A.K.O🕊@UnkleAyo

"All of these countries are racist. How will you cope?" Is it any different from where I'm coming from? This is probably a f00lish statement but I'd rather deal with racism/hatred from people who aren't my kindred than deal with tribalism from folks my own skin color.
