Someone told me @UTIPEC_ , the petroleum union that endorsed Abelardo, has always been right-wing. I did my research. Here's what I found: - Colombian petroleum unionism has been historically left-wing. The USO, founded in 1923, has spent 100 years defending nationalization and fighting multinationals. That's the tradition, they endorsed Petro in 2022 - UTIPEC is different. Newer, more pragmatic. Their endorsement of Abelardo is not ideological. It's survival. Petro tried to kill their industry. Abelardo promised fracking and new exploration contracts from day one. But here's the detail nobody is talking about: even the USO, the most historically left-wing petroleum union in Colombia, never officially endorsed Cepeda so far, they backed Roy Barreras in the consultation. Not Cepeda. Read that again. The most leftist oil workers union in the country did not officially back Petro's chosen successor. Petro's energy policy was so bad that even his own ideological allies in the oil sector wouldn't fully commit to his heir. Every day, Cepeda is more alone and radicalized, is the colombian society so leftist historically? NO. But that deserves a full thread next.

🇨🇴🗳️ Calling Petro and Cepeda your enemies is the biggest gift you can give them. Enemies are feared. Enemies are powerful. Enemies are worthy of your full attention. Don't give them that.
