On Monday, Nov. 17, SERC is open for its regular hours (8am-4:30pm). All Smithsonian museums, research centers and the National Zoo are also open at their regularly scheduled times. You can find information at si.edu/visit 📸 SERC Reed Education Center by Stephen Voss

We will update our operating status as soon as the situation is resolved. We do not plan to update social media other than to inform you of changes to our operating status.

Due to the government shutdown, we are temporarily closed beginning on Sunday, Oct. 12, along with Smithsonian museums, research centers, and the National Zoo.

In the event of a government shutdown, SERC's campus and trails will remain open to visitors for our normal hours through at least Monday, Oct. 6, using prior-year funds. Visit si.edu for updates.

New #fellowship! Our Biogeochemistry Lab is looking for a #postdoc with plant expertise. The postdoc will work on our TEMPEST project, which mimics heavy rainfall and flooding in forests. This is a trust-funded (non-federal) position. Apply by Aug. 25. s.si.edu/4onFnx8

For Alej, the greatest part of working at SERC is the people and scenery he’s surrounded by. He says that SERC is “an absolutely beautiful campus that is populated by brilliant people" and that his #internship has affirmed his interest in science communications.
