@snowset My uncle did basically this, cut right through the front of his plastic helmet and put a groove in his skull. Very bloody. Do not recommend.

I don't think I'd cut with a guy wearing a GoPro. But good on him for sharing how he could have lost his face.

@snowset If I'm cutting a tree, not just smaller branches, I've been known to wear my full-face motorcycle helmet/visor.

Upper quadrant of the bar tip came in contact with the bark. This can also happen if he twists the saw while it's still in the cut and that same upper area of the tip catches on the wood. He needs to slow down. Stop the chain before drawing it out, use the dogs, and keep his face out of the plane of the bar.

@LouGoobryuss Not smart, but also a valuable public service. Lot of people can't comprehend the concept of, say, a barber chair until they see one break somebody's leg.

@snowset So many tree guys on insta posting stuff like this and worse, purposely doing tree cutting fails for content.

I'm based in France, but 43% of my audience is American. I know many of us are in the same situation. To reach a wider audience, all my posts are in English, the international language. Those who cause trouble may be punished, but with this change, which will significantly reduce our earnings, you're also penalizing a number of accounts that use the international language without any ill intent. X tells us that videos and new, high-quality content will be prioritized, but this change will, on the contrary, drastically reduce our earnings. Is there any way to reverse this decision, please?🥺 @XCreators @X @nikitabier @elonmusk

Starting Thursday, we'll be updating our revenue sharing incentives to better reward the content we want on X: We will be giving more weight to impressions from your home region—to encourage content that resonates with people in your country, in neighboring countries and people who speak your language. While we appreciate everyone's opinion on American politics, we hope this will disincentivize gaming the attention of US or Japanese accounts and instead, drive diverse conversations on the platform. We invite creators to start building an audience locally. X will be a much richer community when there's relevant posts for people in all parts of the world.

@snowset @Adams1722Saml The term “Closed-loop” is quite deceiving, there is no efficient way to continuously use the same water. After consistent use the water becomes a grey sludge, which in most of these cases gets dumped into a river(awful).

Absolutely absurd to bury the richest most fecund farmland in the world in concrete. Depleted mining sites, Hanford, the boreal oilfields, the channeled scablands, all would seem better choices for datacenters before we start putting them in their most rational place, Space.
Jack@jackunheard

🚨BREAKING: Kentucky family rejects a $26 million offer to turn their farmland into a data center, roughly 10x the area’s going rate. “If it’s my way, I’ll stay and hold and feed a nation. 26 million doesn’t mean anything.”

@estel1414 It would be hard to find a single one of them that is himself doing any good in this world. I'm pro ai, because I think it will ultimately help us fix the world we've broken, but I'm also pro building it on land that has already been ruined. It's not a big ask.

Very helpful map to understand why data centers are being constructed where they are. Water has very little to do with it, (closed loop systems) but fiber optic backbones and high voltage transmission infrastructure matter a lot. I'll post another map link in a reply.

@AndyMasley Tough to imagine a squirrel-faced DC area Vegan riding the "effective altruism" grift has any idea where another person sits on the bell curve. The inarticulate farmers have the correct intuition that burying prime farmland under concrete for short term gain will prove myopic.

Fine if people want to use their private property rights to reject extremely generous deals, but the way this is framed implies data centers are shifty for offering farmers crazy amounts of money. Older farmer goes on a crazy confused rant about food disappearing and they just air it without comment or clarification. Farmers should be understood as one industry among many and not treated like they're magical sages who can see things the rest of us can't.

@Adams1722Saml The water thing is a red herring. Most of these new centers used closed loop coolant systems, not much water use. It's more about this: and tax incentives.
