@CadetMisty Starfleet Academy should have been cancelled after the release of the previews and never shown to a soul. How anyone thought it appropriate to even call that show Star Trek after seeing those I have no idea.

Imagine if TNG was cancelled after S1 because it "sucked"? I feel like the issue is they don't allow shows time to grow anymore, they have to be a viral hit the minute they come out or it's over. I haven't watched it so I can't say if it's good or not, but it feels like a waste

Upsetting news to hear #StarTrek Starfleet Academy will not go past Season 2. The fandom's inability to embrace any new storytelling outside of nostalgia might as well be the death knell for the fandom.

In the previous four years, we won one game total in the NCAA Tournament. That doesn't tell the whole story, but for the people that love Kentucky, they just want to know that we're making progress. Those are real hard, solid numbers that may be surprising. Go look them up. The winning percentage is higher. The NCAA Tournament success is higher. The strength of schedule is ridiculously more difficult, and all of that done in the context of having one of the most unfortunate health trends in the history of Kentucky basketball. And so in those sense, senses like we haven't met our goals, clearly, but we are making progress in that part of society. And I really bring that up because I think at times, our guys feel like, man, everybody says this is the worst it's ever been. It's not. "We're actually making positive project. We're making positive progress by the numbers and and I'm grateful for the work and the commitment of our guys, and we're going to keep going. And the thing is, we have to keep getting better and better and better as we as we grow this program to the point where we're actually hanging a banner. And this is all part of the process, and we have nothing in our offices, in our locker room besides hope and excitement for the future."

I don’t see cruelty. I see a man doing the job that needs to be done. A man who doesn’t turn away from the hard job because someone’s feeling might get hurt. I applaud men like the ICE agents portrayed on PITT - what I detest are simps like yourself who are not willing to defend the vulnerable citizens of this nation and instead defend criminals.

Barnes is a heck of a coach, I just cannot respect UT fans though. I had to explain to my UT friends: 1) the school was hiring a new coach back in 2015 and 2) he was a slam dunk hire with a final four at Texas. Fan base enjoys its wins like every fan base does…but it knows nothing about basketball.

You knew Iowa State wasn't shooting 29% in the second half. Game over. Major question marks loom for the program going forward. Next year becomes major moment for Mark Pope. If there is not significant strides, there may not be, should not be, a fourth season.

UK to most 18-22 YOs outside of Kentucky, I reckon, is the place where NBA players were cranked out for 10+ years. Not what Pope knows it as. Pope is a nostalgia-pilled Gen Xer who’s gotta face reality. Get a GM, build a legit roster and give yourself a shot to salvage this.

Ah the old, injury excuse. JQ was injured when recruited, so the risk was known. Pope made that decision. Jaland Lowe is not a good PG, we saw enough to make that call. Problem is Pope is a terrible hire. A third season only delays the decision. Fire him know, hire an AD, and let him pick his own coach.

I have not seen one post on here or on any other site pumping any sort of sunshine for next year’s season of Kentucky basketball. I’m not sure I can ever remember that being a case outside of twice (Billy G Year 2 NIT Exit and Cal’s loss to Oakland). The common denominator between those two? Neither of those guys were the Coach at The University of Kentucky the next season. (This team did hold the accolade of making most people about as excited as a necessary emergency appendectomy though.) I see zero world in which Kentucky DOES NOT bring Mark Pope back. That just isn’t happening. What I am more concerned about is Pope fighting an impossible battle in Year 3. The margin for error will basically be non-existent, and BBN will determine if he is a lame duck very quickly into his 26-27 campaign. Short media conferences, cutting the Tom Leach radio post game short, and paying millions for kids to ride the bench certainly isn’t going to “help” anything either. Hope he (really) understands what this is, because for the first time…….I’m beginning to have doubts on if he’s really comprehending the situation he’s put himself in. Accountability (the real kind) needs to be Step #1. Some Assistants are going to have to go. Can’t run it back with the same staff that put this team on the floor. Those conversations need to either currently be happening or happening first thing tomorrow morning.

No matter where you place the blame this season… roster construction, injuries, or coaching… We all love Mark Pope and we all want it to work so bad! This season, overall, was disappointing. Now, unfortunately… He’ll head into year three with real pressure to deliver.
